Heatley should rot in hell. Or the ECHL.

I'm surprised at the Gaborik contract, although I had a hunch the Rangers would land either he or Heatley because they need scoring. Truth is, you're not going to be a great offensive team when you are built to be a defensive team.

I'd be shocked if Gaborik plays more than 50 games in a season. Guy just can't seem to stay healthy for any stretch of time.

So the first few years of the deal are higher and then the salary gets lower as the years go by? But for salary cap purposes, it's averaged over the length of the contract? Is that right? If so, makes sense. But that's still a long time and at what point can the team dump the whole thing?

I honestly think the always hurt card gets played a little high with him.

Gaborik has played 65 games in a regular season all but twice in his career, including 77 (42 goals, 83 points) two seasons ago.

What exactly does Heatley want? To get Clouston fired? Or something else?

I thought we tolerated enough of this bullshit from Alexei Yashin.

Not only that, they delete their accounts and call the owner and moderators of this site all kinds of names.
Then, some of their SJ names got retaken by other people and they go running to those same people they call useless to protect them and save their deleted accounts.

It's really very comical, but also pretty pathetic.

But, alas, this place is a lot more civil without them.

I might have to make a trip up to Edmonton if the Sens are coming to town this year.

Says the person who took someone else's name from this board, and decided to go to the other board to make that point.

Some would say stating everything above without including that detail pathetic, and a little one-sided.

Someone's a bit defensive. I'm sure it's still meltdown mode over there over an alleged drive by.

Anyway, back to hockey. Be a shame to get this locked.

To your first point, it is very far from that. They've moved on, and it is now forbidden.

And now, back to hockey. Hank, is this why the Red Wings are what they are, because it seems for the most-part the only long-term deals they ever make are for players they have developed and brought through their system.

Those they bring in from the outside have to establish themselves as part of the franchise before they get a lengthier deal. And as such, they don't make 4-, 5- or 6-year deals for players off the free agent market.
