Again, it's not even just that it was the Oilers -- in that regard of course I feel a little attached to it -- but the fact he has now officially screwed the sens twice this summer already (once in requesting the trade and now burning them when they do honour his wish. He also majorly screws the Oilers who sat around all day waiting for him to make a decision while almost every other top FA was signed. On top of that there is now the question of how effective the three Oilers players will be that were told they were traded but now the deal has fallen apart (Jay Cutler, cough, cough). it could have been the loathsome Canucks he did this too and I would feel the same about him.

Sorry Beef, but if someone starts swinging at those who can't defend themselves, then someone needs to stand up for them.

That's fine, it was directed at you in particular just a plea to all involved. Cool heads fellas.

EDIT: My bad. That's supposed to be wasn't. My apologies.

    Beef,

What's your take on the Khabibulin for Roloson exchange in net for Edmonton?

Did Alexei Kovalev sign anywhere? Can't recall seeing his name on the list.

Oh my, that would be a hoot. But they were in our burbs this past season, so it's doubtful we'll see them this year.

I'm pretty sure that as of last year, it's part of the schedule that all Canadian teams play each other at least once in each barn.

Dreger tweet: TSN reporting Antropov has agreed to 4 year, just over $16 mil with Atlanta.

I love it. As a cap hit it remains virtually the same (Roli was a 3.65 and Khabibulin is a 3.75). It's not a cripling contract, and unless thereis a no-trade clause, it is a moveable contract if Jeff Druin-Deslauriers suddenly blossoms into a starter. I also don't think Khabibulin is near as paranoid over holding on to the #1 spot as Roli is who was looking over his shoulder from the moment he got to Edmonton, which means it will be a little smoother process of making sure JDD can get 20-25 games in. He knows he's the unquestioned #1.

I've been a big fan of Khabibulin's since he was in Winnipeg. He took a lot of crap for his first few years in Chicago, but a) he had several injuries he was working through, and b) the team in front of him was young, inexperienced, and pretty terrible until the last couple of years. But he showed last year he is still very capable. I think he feels he has something to prove.

Also, and this is probably the best part, he has made the Calgary Flames his personal bitch throughout his career. Head-to-head he has outplayed Kipper every step of the way, including when it counted the most in the Stanley Cup Final and then in the playoffs this season.

I like what Roli did for the Oilers, I will never bash him, but it was time for a change.

Kovalev apparently re-signed with the Canadiens, two years, $4.5 per.
