It appears you can take Chad LaRose off the list.

Despite pessimism as to whether it would happen or not yesterday, he's going to stay with Carolina.

About f_cking time. Good grief that was ridiculous.

Tuomo Ruutu highly likely to return to Raleigh ... loves it there, is already a fan favorite and his physical style is sorely needed by teammates. Anton Babchuk claims he won't play for $1 million qualifying offer. Good luck there, Anton ... only the Whalercanes might tolerate your huffy act from a few years back.

Was really impressed with how Gill and Scuderi played together in the playoffs for Pittsburgh. Wouldn't mind seeing them as a pair on the US Olympic team.

Gotta hand it to Scuderi. He played his best when it counted and now he was able to cash in.

As for Chicago, still waiting to see what (if anything) they do in goal. Not sold on Huet for the long haul in terms of going deep into the playoffs.

Beef, I agree with you about Khabibulin. No drop off there. If that team finds a go-to scorer, they could really make some waves.

Hawks aren't the best team in the division with Huet and Corey Crawford as the goaltending combo. I like their mix everywhere else, but the Wings went to the seventh game of the Stanley Cup. Hossa doesn't close that gap that fast.

How could Blair Betts still be available?

I heard some people would rather have him then Crosby or Ovechkin.

Hank, I know Leino is likely to re-sign soon, but are the Red Wings planning anything major this offseason or is it steady as she goes, maybe a minor tweak here and there?

Chris Chelios is available. His brother told me in May that he expects Chris to wind up with the New York Rangers.

Chelios may want to play, but he's also realistic about possibly calling it a career. He's got three pretty successful restaurants in the Metro Detroit area. One kid going to Michigan State this fall to play hockey. Another one playing minor hockey (but can't remember where) and there may be another one playing high school.

Leino is an RFA as is Hudler.
Wings are too far up against the cap to do anything real big. It will be more bringing up some kids from Grand Rapids and giving them more full time spots (Darren Helm, Justin Abdelkader, Jonathan Ericsson, maybe a Derek Meech).

    And GB, chill out dude.
