Unless Austin makes an appearance and comes out and whips Jericho's ass, nothing will make that match worth watching.

I don't watch much rasslin' anymore but a buddy of mine put me on to Jericho's promo against Slick Ric from Monday. Great, great stuff.....

You gotta figure they'll put in one or two matches each year so you can go to the bathroom and get a new beer during, and I'd say this match and the diva battle royal are the two this year. That's the only reason I can think to book this match because it's horrible.

  4. We just pause the DVR when we want a break and FF through the crap parts.

I'll be at a friend's house this year to watch 'Mania with some beer and munchies, I'll just make sure that I drink extra heavily and I don't remember either the Jericho or Diva's match. Although I might pay attention to both because I want to see IF Austin does make an appearance and I'm curious as to what Divas WWE is able to convince to participate.

Ha, that won't be a problem. I don't have to work on Monday and I think everyone who has planned on drinking has made arrangements to stay the night.

For those who might remember the late Tripp McNeely (James), an SportsJournalists.com regular, especially here on the pro wrestling board, myself and a few others are gathering at the home of his mother and younger brother to watch Wrestlemania 25 together this year. It's a chance for some of his friends to come together and remember a lot of good times, of which watching wrestling on TV and DVD and attending WWE and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla shows in Southern California with James was part of it. Many of us worked with James at the Long Beach Press Telegram, too. I did, with him for four years (2000-04).

I didn't live too close to James in the last two years and my visits with James in person were infrequent but we communicated a lot via phone calls and e-mail. Last year he invited me and another wrestling fan/friend of ours over to watch WM 24. We had a great time and it was fun to talk about the Flair-HBK match and to see CM Punk (one of James' favorites from the ROH days) win MITB. Little did I know it would be the last time I saw him in person. I remember, too, that in the days after the WM 24 get-together, he mentioned how cool it would be to attend a WM this year so that we could also see an ROH show (they now have shows in the WM host city the weekend of WM) and the WWE Hall of Fame, too.

Well, we're not going to be able to attend the show in Houston, but getting people together who knew James well and to watch WM this year is going to be great. James, I think, would be happy that we're doing this and will like hearing all the stories sure to fly around in his living room.

For those who want to read about Ricky Steamboat and his thoughts on his upcoming induction and match with Jericho, etc., here's a decent read:

Awesome idea, CC. I didn't know James/Tripp personally, but even from the limited interaction on SportsJournalists.com it was easy to see he had a passion for wrestling and loved to tell stories or just chat about what was going on. Like many on this thread, James' posts were both fun to read and educational, and it was always fun for guys like me (and I'm sure KY and some of the other younger posters can attest) to see what he had to say either about the past or about a recent show.

Maybe Punk will win MITB again for him ;)

If I wasn't so far away, I'd be at the get-together.

Tripps was an awesome friend -- one I'll never forget.
