Not that it was a WM match, but Goldberg/Lesnar reminds me of one of the first WWE productions of ECW, when Big Show and Batista worked in the Hammerstein Ballroom.

The fans were booing both of them for their typical big-man match. Meanwhile, Big Show, who was the heel, seemed somewhat amused while babyface Batista was actually getting pissed.

The WWE hasn't been back to Hammerstein, or the old ECW Arena, since.

Does Kane-Chavo Guerrero belong on the list of worst matches? I mean, why even have that one.

And here's the YouTube version of Lesnar-Goldberg, or at least the beginning. To watch the full thing, just go to the side of the page and look for Part 2 and Part 3.

That reminded me of another Big Show match. It was on Raw, and it was right around the time Mick Foley was about to leave or turn heel or something. Foley comes out for a match against Big Show, and goes on this rant about how Vince and the fans want him to be the glorified stuntman. He says he's not going to do it, and challenges Show to a wrestling match.
    An old-fashioned wrestling match.
For the next 10 minutes, these two guys who have made their careers on pounding on people and getting pounded by people go through a series of old-timey looking moves that only Dean Malenko might've known. The crowd gets increasingly pissed and boos the whole time. It was more surreal than anything.

Aside from Michaels-Undertaker and the Money in the Bank match, I'm not too excited about the booking.

I find myself rooting against Cena and rooting for Edge.

The Hardy brothers storyline has been buried by the Vicki Guerrero crap.

This whole Orton-Triple H thing has been a bit overdone.

I'm frustrated Rey isn't in the Money in the Bank match. That seems to be a good fit for him. I'm also not buying that Christian is going to win it.

If Vince and company expected any other reaction, they're truly idiots.

I think I remember that. Funny shit.

The fiance and I were watching WrestleMania 22 tonight. God, that was a great show. (OK, I'm biased because I was there).

I forgot how solid the MITB was that year. Aside from Benjamin running up the ladder and diving on four opponents, there weren't a ton of high-impact spots but it was a good match.

Oh, and the look on Vince's face when Michaels puts Shane's head in Vince's ass was priceless.

    Solid show overall.

Oh, and as an aside, can someone tell me exactly when the women in the WWE started actually being able to wrestle? I've been watching for a couple of weeks now and I am honestly impressed with the quality of their matches now. I used to HATE the women bouts. Now I watch as if they were anyone else.

This one set somewhat of a precedent...not many joined her, though.

Thought you guys would like to know....

A buddy of mine is going to Mania and he was at Axxess. His pics are on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/photo.php?pid=299398&id=1412514378) and a Ms. Torrie Wilson was there posing with folks. I take this to mean she's a lock for the Diva BR.

EDIT: I just saw that he posted a pic with Sunny as well. Damn, she got old but she's still pretty decent looking. (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/photo.php?pid=299334&id=1412514378)

Foley did something similiar to that in ECW, where his character was in an anti-extreme heel phase. He had a match with El Puertoricano where Foley won with a sunset flip to mock the crowd.

It looks like Axcess is a better time since they started charging people for entrance. Nice little ring they have set up and it's a good idea to tape some TV matches there. I went to the one in Detroit in 2007, which was free, and while pretty cool (I got to call a Benoit match, meet Foley, get on the local news, win HoF tickets from Hillbilly Jim, and see the museum-esque area with legendary stuff from guys like Andre and Hogan), it wasn't as extensive and they seem to have a lot more signings and photo ops this year.

When I went to the one in Chicago in 2006 it was actually kind of a drag. I mean, they had some cool things (the temporary tattoo stand was fun), for the most part there weren't a lot of things to keep my interest. Oh, and apart from a Shawn Michaels book signing, there weren't any big-name appearances.

Still, it was a great experience and every year during this time I get the urge to go back to Mania. Wish it wasn't so expensive.

Anyone watching the 2009 HOF on WWE.com right now?

I am not because I noticed it started awhile ago. I'll likely just watch the taped version on USA later tonight.
