Hell of a career. I remember when he was just starting and had that whole NASCAR gimmick going. I remember one of his most memorable matches was teaming with the 1-2-3 Kid to beat Bam Bam Bigelow and Tatanka to win the tag team titles.

Nasty son of a bitch, but he could get it done in the ring.

 

It's making me sign up or something...just for that I'm gonna put in the Starrcade DVD set I recently purchased and watch your namesake lose to Flair in '83

Alright. We're one week away from the Royal Rumble and I don't have an idea of who is going to win it this year. I kind of like that, though. Every year, you kind of have a good hunch and then that person wins it. This year, they aren't giving anyone that "extra push" or really trying to reveal as to who's going to win it.

Oh, and Vince returns to Raw tomorrow. That should be interesting.

 

If I had to guess, I would say Trips wins the Rumble. Edge wins the strap and they set it up for Wrestlemanina, where Trips either takes the belt from Edge or, more likely, returns to Raw.

I say this because every once in a while, Ross still brings up that Trips is third on the all-time list of world title reigns, behind Natch and Hulk.

 

If it's a Raw guy, it'd have to be HBK right? He wins the Rumble and goes to Wrestlemania to face either Cena (always guaranteed to be a classic, and always a bankable match) or JBL (which continues this asinine angle; which can continue even if Cena beats JBL at the Rumble).

 

I couldn't see HBK facing Cena again. They did square off against one another at WM 23 in a match that I thought HBK would win.

 

You forgot the blue font for that last sentence. Vince hasn't been interesting in years, although the angle with Trump was kind-of fun.

I can see Michaels winning the Rumble and facing JBL at WM. They might want to focus the Smackdown title in the main event of WM, so the Raw title won't be as emphasized. Plus, Undertaker should have a very prominent spot. I can see the Raw title being the third banana.

 

Not interesting so much as a character, but his being on camera is going to have a pretty big impact on storylines -- whether he's back for good or just to support/tweak/fire Stephanie. It's also telling because usually when Vince cones back from a long spell away, it's because ratings aren't what they want. Plus there's the matter of Jericho.

Right now Michaels isn't in the Rumble (JBL took the liberty of pulling him out of it). That could change, but for now he's only a cornerman for JBL in the Cena match, and the result of that will probably lead to some sort of JBL-HBK confrontation, setting up a likely JBL-HBK match at Wrestlemania1.

Since I'm guessing Edge-HHH for the Smackdown title is the WM main event, HHH would be the safe bet to win the Rumble, with Edge beating Jeff Hardy after Christian interference to regain the title. Cena would probably wrestle Orton at WM for the Raw title.

A possibility: Big Show wins the Rumble, teases a match with Edge, since the two are having drama, then shows up on Raw to beat the shit out of Cena and challenge him at WM. That's assuming the "you get to choose which title to go after" clause remains in effect. Edge-HHH would be intact.

Undertaker will probably fight a freak at WM to extend his streak. Kozlov? Umaga? Kane yet again?

1 -- Say what you will about the cheesiness of the angle itself, but both guys are working their ass off to make this a lot better than it has any right to be.

 

I can see a bunch of different scenarios (heck, Vince could put Michaels back in the Rumble for all I know, although it wouldn't be likely). I'd like to see 'Taker fight Kozlov (undefeated at WM vs. undefeated). Umaga or Kane, ugh.

 

I think a Undertaker/Umaga feud is supposed to start very soon. I know Umaga has been cleared to wrestle for some time now.
