Between the Edge-Vickie segment and Triple H giving Orton a restaurant-quality old-school beatdown, that was a pretty good second hour of Raw.

Great. Triple H comes back. Here comes a Triple H-Orton-Batista TRIPLE THREAT MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP! (yawn.)

Please, WWE. Surprise us. Please don't do the Trips-Orton-Batista-Cena-lather-rinse-repeat. I just can't watch it if that's the plan.

    Vickie is gone? Awesome.

One of the worst storylines (Edge's "marriage" to Vickie) ever concocted is finally over? Even better.

I've always despised this storyline for various reasons. Vickie's "EXCUSE ME!" routine was way too over the top, even by the WWE's standards. I understand the WWE wanted to cash in on Eddie's death, and bring in Vickie was a way to do that, but Vickie over stayed her welcome. By a lot.

I hated it when she "married" Edge because it was as if she, along with everyone else in the company, was slapping Eddie in the face. Even Chavo went along with it, which I thought was pretty disgraceful. I know it's just TV and it's just entertainment, but there has to be a line somewhere.

I'm glad to see her go. Hope she stays away for good this time.

And it was already done by Don Callis.

Sorry about not seeing the injury news.

You know, ever since Vince got away from the day-to-day operations of this thing, the show has become as predictably bad as any soap opera, and all the next generation of WWE execs (read, Steph and Shane) can do is expand shows, making more bad shows. It's like what has happened to Wal-Mart through generations of leadership. I'm sure Vince still has his hand on it but his grip isn't tight enough. He really needs to shake things up.

How about enhancing the storylines of MVP?

SP, what makes you think VKM doesn't have as firm a grip on WWE as ever? I haven't read otherwise ... Just because he isn't a consistent on-camera performer doesn't mean that the current WWE fare isn't signed, sealed and delivered by VKM.

I think the underlying issue is the E's desire to mass-market and advertise to teeny Cena fans more than the bloodthirsty, 60-minute ironman match stalwarts from back in the day. They have homogenized the fare to appeal to Madison Avenue, because there is no need to compete with anyone like during the WCW days. TNA is a non-factor, in all reality.

    Just my $0.02.

WFW, RB. The WWE has always been in it to make money. It's a business, after all, and it rides the backs of its top stars to be as financially successful as possible. In the '80s, they had Hogan, who appealed to casual fans and the kids because of his look and charisma. In the '90s, Austin/Rock/et al appealed to a different demographic, so they mixed things up and filled the seats that way. Now, it's Cena, who has that Hogan-type of appeal.

I think another main difference is that WWE doesn't have the volume of workers it once had to keep the stalwarts entertained. Whether that's it's own fault or if the talent just isn't there...? Tough to tell.

I'm fully expecting my boy and namesake Tommy Dreamer to drop the strap to Christian or Jack Sthwagger tonight.

I hope not. I hope they give him a 3-month title run at least, but I don't see it happening. Oh well, at least he won the title when a lot of you on here thought he wouldn't.

I at least had hope :D

I don't know how long Dreamer expects to stick around (he's 38 IIRC?), but they could give him a good, quick run, have him drop to Christian/Swagger at Night of Champions, and give him a cool send-off...?

It's always unfortunate when people get hurt. But damn, I am glad Botchtisteroids is out of the picture for a while. He's a stiff.

Hate to see HHH back and would love to see him get out of the ring. But I've got a feeling this guy will be around for another five years - minimum. Especially since he's a McMahon (basically). I loved DX but it's over, dude. You can't work like you used to. You're BOOOOORING.

Ah, what else. MVP still doesn't get a very good pop. Does anyone else notice this? He should be more over with the RAW crowd after a month+ on the show. He's not.
