They were. It was a triple threat set up by TEddy Long. Edge and Y2J had seperate backstage spots during the PPV - Edge wanting in on Hardy-Punk and Y2J wanting a rematch with Rey. Long told them off but later announced before the tag match that it was a three-way. Edge and Y2J come out. They were barely in the match (it was set up that way) until Edge speared Carlito and got the pin.

The crowd gave both of those guys pop before, during and after the match. They were even chanting EDGE and Y-2-J durng the match!

Jericho got a lot of face pop during his match with Rey.

I'm not sure what WWE plans for these guys as far as heels or faces or whatever, but I like this direction with the tag division. I think everyone on here has had beef with it for years and its gotten really stale lately.

Also, not sure what they're doing with the Legacy faction. Ted and ORton got into a verbal spat during a spot and Ted walked off.

    No way Orton retains, IMO.

And BTW, Orton's theme is really awesome. As if I haven't said that enough on here...

Orton retains. Same shit. Legacy saves Orton's ass. I had a feeling the match would be a letdown after a lot of the good stuff we saw earlier in the night - Y2J and Rey, Edge/Y2J winning tag belts, even Punk-Hardy.

By the way, Punk might've punched (kicked) his ticket to heeldom tonight.

    Did Punk retain?

Yes...by DQ. Hardy covered (and appeared to pin) Punk, but Punk had his left foot under the rope and the referee saw it after counting to 3. After the match, Hardy inadvertently poked Punk in the eye and Punk eventually kicked the referee in the back.

Overall, I was bored with the PPV. The IC and tag matches were enjoyable, but none of the others seemed to have any sort of flow as it's almost like they had one or two matches too many and rushed through a couple of them. I honestly think The Miz could be buried pretty quickly after the Cena match because it was a quick match and there was only one spurt of a couple minutes tops where he had any real offense...he didn't even really get a chance to shine.

Actually, that happened after the ref restarted the match ... and the kick caused the DQ.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Oops!

  9. Decent, if underwhelming, PPV event last night.

Main event was what I expected. Orton and HHH just don't have good chemistry, and the match wasn't bad but not too memorable. Punk-Hardy was solid action, but it was booked to extend the feud and furthur make Punk look like a heel. Not bad in execution. Tag match was above-average and Edge/Jericho is an interesting combo that brings more prestige to the belts. Thought McCool vs. Melina was better than most PPV womens matches. Kane vs. Khali feud....Lord help us. ECW match was nothing special. Seems like they are not-so-subtly hinting at a Ted DiBiase Jr. face turn in the future.

Best match of the night, yet again, was Jericho-Rey. Now there's chemistry for ya - these two legends are brilliant together.

That sucks. I didn't think Miz would win, but I was hoping for some sort of DQ or cheapo roll-up/chairshot type finish. They had Big Show run in the other 12 times Miz and Cena encountered each other, they couldn't do it here?
I wonder if they continue this angle tonight or just drop it. If they just drop it, the Miz seems like he'd be pretty much done.

It was a shame to watch that squash match. Cena could've lost and still be just as over with the crowd. A Miz win or loss via DQ would've made it better. But Cena just whooped his ass and consecutively hit all three of his big moves on the Miz, who tapped like a pansy after about five seconds. Ugh.

As you guys have said, if they drop this angle then who knows where Miz will go. Here's hoping he comes back tonight and cuts a mean promo to stir the hornets nest.

  12. It wouldn't make sense to have Miz beat Cena clean, but he could have easily cheat to win and got some more credibility and continued the feud, which I am enjoying.

Also, one of the best things about the show last night were the excellent promos WWE did before the matches, particularly before Cena-Miz and HHH-Orton.
