Notice I said WWF...not that half-assed WWE comeback. I treat that like Jordan with the Wizards ;)

Speaking of the crossface, who could actually pull that off and *not* get reprimanded? Chris Benoit was a great wrestler, and they are in Canada, but [/wwe] I don't see that one going over too well with VKM.

Both excellent points. It truly would make sense for Punk to win and have Taker chase, and Taker is so over at this point in his career that it would be damn near impossible to have him come off as weak. But at the same time, do you have one of your biggest draws come back after 4-5 months, then make him tap? If it was a straight-up match, there would be plenty more options conducive to a Punk victory (an Orton-esque cheap shot for a pin, etc.).

On the other hand, Taker with Goldie? The guy has been gone for 4-5 months. Then again, Cena came back after an injury last year and won it right away... ::) It really could go either way.

Now to the 'legitimacy' bit. True, things literally can and will go in any possible direction...but it has to actually end up in a direction the fans can actually believe in some capacity. That's what makes Breaking Point somewhat intriguing...very few fans believe some of the main-event-level guys could actually tap out, let alone to the opponents they are facing. Then, you some have guys whose movesets don't include any genuine submission holds.

Granted, we know it's all fake, but I think it's a combination of the voluntary suspension of disbelief for 2-3 hours at a time, and the fact that these are athletes/showmen who have built/been allowed to build their characters to the point that it truly does seem they can legitimately do certain things and not others.

Luckily, in the cases of Taker-Punk and DX-Legacy, if the younger guys win it won't have an adverse effect on the established stars. However, I think Rhodes-DiBiase may be a PPV away from a victory over DX. The old guys made them look good at SummerSlam but, if creative chooses to wait and give the new guys a clean, hard-fought loss, then they will become even more legitimate as worthy adversaries before they finally go over.

It seems right that 'Taker will chase Punk for the WHC leading up to Hell in a Cell where Taker will likely win it.

EDIT: Seeing that Hell in a Cell is the next PPV following Breaking Point, I'll retract that answer. A lengthy feud between these two looks plausible, though.

I believe HBK used a Crippler Crossface during a match last year or early this year, but I can't remember who it was against. It might have been against Taker at WM25, come to think of it. And there's YouTube video of him using it against Orton a couple of years ago (
    but it's not very good)

HHH has broken out the crossface on occasion, too. I think he used it in the WM25 match against Orton.

The Taker-Punk match is one where everyone thinks Taker is going to win, but that may be where the funky finish comes into play.

I say that since the WWE seems intent on extending Taker's WM streak, he should throw them a bone and tap to Punk cleanly.

I can see a scenario like Hart/Austin, where Taker gets knocked out by Punk's cheating (maybe gets hit with the belt?), then Punk puts him in a hold and, since Taker can't tap, the ref stops the match.

Angelina Love has been released from TNA after it was discovered she was working on an expired visa (she's from Canada)

Also, ROH has announced that Nigel McGuinness has been signed by WWE, which recently inked Bryan Danielson to a contract. McGuinness is a bit bigger and has a better look than Danielson, so I suspect he'll have a better shot at being a decent star there.

  9. I'm very interested to see how WWE uses both. From what I've been reading, Danielson is going straight to WWE TV.

Danielson is wrestling for the Dragon Gate promotion this weekend in Chicago. I might go check it out since the event is a few blocks away. I doubt he'll be able to use his "Best in the World" nickname in WWE.

I'd guess both will head to ECW (you'd think both are more TV-ready than whatever prospects they're grooming in Florida). Someone at PW Torch put forth a bit of fantasy booking that had McGuinness joining Regal's group and Danielson teaming with Christian and Dreamer. Makes as much sense as anything else. I wonder if Danielson can get over with fans not up on ROH-style wrestling.

I haven't seen a whole lot of either guy, but I just hope Danielson gets to keep doing the "I'VE GOT FIVE!" routine.

    WTF??

TNA just dumped the best female heel in the business today (and a damn good worker too).
