Uh, what about Punk's whole heel-turn and cashing in MitB and what not? I thought that was pretty surprising. I don't really mind the WWE being that unimaginative with their titles because, having seen the TNA and WCW alternatives, I think it is better to keep the swerves to a minimum. It takes really delicate care and attention to properly sprinkle in the right amount of surprising results, and I prefer the conservative WWE approach to the chaos-for-chaos's-sake style of TNA.

Punk cashing in MITB *last year* was a surprise. The second time in a row? Not so much...especially after he had been trying in the weeks prior to the PPV in which he did. The heel turn was a bit of a surprise but, according to what Tripp McNeely (RIP) said at one point last year, Punk had the "I'm straight edge, so I'm better than you" bit in his repertoire from his days in ROH.

And it's not like A.J. Styles is a bum. Dude can wrestle, and he had been a world champ before. It was just surprising this time around because the build-up had been about the other guys, namely Angle and Morgan.

Hernandez came in and started beating the shit out of Angle while everyone else stood and watched. That spilled outside the ring and made its way up the ramp. Hernandez was about to give Angle that Razor's Edge type of finisher off the stage and onto a table, but Eric Young ran out, hit Hernandez in the leg with a nightstick and piledrove him on the stage.

My favorite match of the night (OK, favorite concept) was the Lethal Lockdown match (i.e. War Games with one ring and weapons). I'm impressed whenever I see Beer Money and the British Invasion, and Team 3D is still at home in a hardcore match. But Booker T and Steiner? Hang 'em up already! Steiner can barely waddle his way to the ring. Booker can barely speak (if you think Dusty Rhodes needs a translator, listen to Booker T on Impact sometime), and I'm pretty sure he shares syringes with his tag-team partner.

Nothing says "Whoops, my mistake" by having a guy cash in his chance at a title shot in a match that already has four men in it, then getting attacked by someone not even on the main event level.

Styles win seems likely to set up a title match vs. Sting at the October PPV in Irvine, Calif., which has been advertised by TNA as Sting's possible farewell/retirement match (at least that's what TNA was saying when it was distributing lots of fliers when Summerslam took place in L.A. in August).

Also, TNA's front office is undergoing a complete overhaul as Jim Cornette was let go as well as former wrestlers Dutch Mantell and Savio Vega and B.G. James. Jeff Jarrett remains on the sidelines, too. Russo seems to be the one in charge now and Ed Ferrera joined TNA, beginning with last night's PPV. Ferrera and Russo were last together in the WCW days.

    Ferrera and Russo, together again?
Shit, TNA will be on top in no time. There's no way those guys could run a company into the ground.

I don't know if I should be surprised that nobody has commented on tonight's RAW yet.

    Absolute. Worst. RAW. Ever.

The opening segment was fucking stupid and lasted probably two minutes too long.

The only thing worth actually watching was Lillian's heartfelt goodbye.

After tonight, I'm done with RAW until the spring when Wrestlemania starts to come around.

I've had enough of the guest celebrity hosts pimping their shit and putting on dumb matches. I've had enough of the same six matches every week. I've had enough of WWE burying damn good talent to keep the same four or five guys on top of the organization.

Maybe this week will be the week I give TNA a try.

It wasn't the worst RAW, (I still have nightmares over Vince poking fun at colon surgery), but it wasn't that good either.

Lillian's goodbye was the best part of the show because it was genuine. She was crying her eyes out. And they switched away just as the fans started a 'Thank you Lillian' chant. They couldn't have given her 10 extra seconds?

  9. So what am I missing, why is Lillian leaving?

I think she just wanted to leave after 10 years to do her singing, or whatever else she wants to do.

Well, I have to admit that I missed the colon surgery show (as well as a lot of RAW during that stretch). So last night may not be the worst ever, but I really wanted to turn the damn show off just a minute into it. Thank God for TiVo because I fast-forwarded through most of that RAW.

I'm just tired of the same six angles happening every week with a different twist each week. I'm all for developing angles, but how many times do they have to push Cena-Orton or DX-Legacy on us? Can't they fight other people while getting ready for the PPV? Whatever happened to that? Now it seems like the four weeks of RAW between PPVs are just dress rehearsals for the PPV.

That's funny ... because I actually did. I clicked when the second football player came out of the limo. Never clicked back.

I think this is it for me watching sports entertainment.
