Was that Vader-Jack match from 1993?

Foley said in his first book that fans, even the smart fans, were calling around Atlanta hospitals to check on his condition. Seminal stuff. Too bad they followed it up with Lost in Cleveland, then nothing.

As for the Sheamus bomb: One thing that would have been nice is if they had built up to the bomb beforehand. Like had him put Noble into the setup, then had Cole go "No ... he can't be serious ... he's not really going to ... NO, SHEAMUS, NO!" or something like that, then hit the bomb. But it still came off very well and everyone hit their notes.

sgreenwell: The problem with using a mid-major guy for a big injury angle is that, unless they're going into a program together, either he recovers quickly and negates the point, or is out a long time and people forget about him, plus he's not making money. The only two ways you can do it: 1) use it as an injury write-out, so if he was going to be out for a while, this would be the cover, or 2) someone's on their way out, so this is their good-bye from the organization. Both have been done a number of times. You don't want him squashing MVP and them murdering him after the bell, unless you're about to cut him, he's got a few months off in his immediate future, or you're completely giving up on him.

Their second one in '93. I wasn't able to find it. The first one is on Youtube. It's the one from the week before where Vader breaks Jack's nose on purpose and where Harley Race was supposed to bust Jack's eyebrow to get it to bleed, but Vader did it first.

Which, in Foley's book, led to Race grumbling, "Aw, it's already busted."

I remember some of the Lost in Cleveland stuff. It was ridiculous how they took a great serious thing and tried to make it funny. The main thing I remember was they had Foley telling some 'woman reporter' that he didn't know who he was, but in Foley's own voice. I was used to hearing him in the Cactus voice.

If it's the match from WCW's Saturday Night in April 93, I've found it. The other one I found was from Halloween Havoc that year, but Vader doesn't powerbomb Cactus in that one.

Well, I think you could just have him be off television for a week or two - which isn't a stretch for MVP anyway, since he isn't always on every show despite being a midcard guy. Then you actually have an angle with MVP saying, "I took him lightly the first time, I'm not going to do that again," instead of just some random squash match. IIRC, the Undertaker was built up in this fashion - He beat some respected midcard guys instead of going straight to Hogan and Warrior, or just beating a long line of jobbers.

They had two matches on WCW Saturday Night. The first one was where Vader broke Foley's nose. The second one was where he got powerbombed on the floor(made memorable by Tony Schiavone yelling, 'My God, he's going to kill him!).

I've never seen the Haloween Havoc match, which I really should. The interesting thing about that, Foley said in his first book, was he was hoping that Vader would legitimately hurt him when he was squashed on a wooden ramp so he could retire and accept a Lloyds of London payment.

I'll post the Halloween Havoc match later, but I wish I could find that match from WCW Saturday Night.

So, no thoughts on RAW? Can't blame anyone. I thought it was kinda dull, too.

Hatton was what he was, although I would have liked to see him spar with someone of more significance than Chavo.

They didn't even say the jobber's name who fought Sheamus, just referred to him as an 'Englishman'. Way to make people care about the matches, guys.

What was the purpose of Gail Kim and Jillian at ringside if all they did was stay in their corners? They might as well have done a tag match.

I liked the ending of the main event. Cena was decent on the mic, putting over DX (like they really need it anyways). And I'm looking forward to next week's show at MSG, with Piper as the host, and the three-way tag match with DX, JeriShow and Cena/Taker. Except ... how can that match be made, when the guest host is supposed to be in charge?

Taker? Explain. How is he on RAW? Why?

I haven't watched in a few weeks. With the World Series, MNF and now getting ready for a move, I just don't have the time. Hell, I've been asleep by 10.

For one show. They're combining the elements of the two main events in a six-man tag.

It's another one of those unexplained appearances by a wrestler on the opposite brand. Then the WWE wonders why fans don't care about the brand split.

In this case it's a little different because all the brands are in England, so doing crossovers is easier. Not that they should, necessarily.

Smackdown spoilers indicate a longtime love-hate relationship that hasn't been mentioned much in the last year or two might be on again.
