How have they fucked up Orton-Kofi?

Also, what of the spot backstate with McIntyre and Sheamus? Someone earlier said that could have been a bit of foreshadowing on WWE's part, something like Ireland vs. Scotland for the WWE title.

The Orton-Kofi match on Raw hurt the angle and killed some of the heat that peaked at the Raw at MSG. From what I hear, there was no heat for tonight's match at all. And with Kofi losing it, there's a chance they'll send him back down to the U.S. title tier.

At Survivor Series, Miz, Sheamus and McIntyre were interviewed as a unit after winning their match. Now with the Sheamus-McIntyre interaction, perhaps it's setting the stage for a young lions/established guys feud, as had been bandied about on this thread. McIntyre isn't at Sheamus's level in terms of presentation yet, but he could get there (or he could be Jack Swagger, who seems to have completely vanished).

I was thinking that was the direction they were going with it. Sort of a moment between two rising stars who know the guard is changing. Maybe it is a little soon for both of them to have a belt, but we're always bitching about the staleness at the top of the card. It just got freshened up a bit. So let's see where they take it.
The announcers seemed to be selling the turmoil of the championship situation, so expect that to be a theme heading into the Rumble.

Just watched the Christian-Benjamin match on YouTube.
    Holy. Fucking. God.
Too many great spots to mention, but a powerslam off the top of the ladder? The frog splash through the ladder? Both guys swinging from the belt?
Good lord that was awesome. Christian looked legitimately drained and messed up by the end. Undertaker-HBK is probably a unanimous choice for match of the year, but Christian-Benjamin should be in the top 5.

We've all been wanting a fresh, new person at the top, and we've finally got it. Been reading some forums, and the reaction isn't all that good. Some people love Sheamus being champ just for the fact that it gets the belt off Cena. Others hate it because Sheamus isn't an established main-eventer yet.

I'm all for it. I know I hated it when Sheamus won the battle royal that night, but this -- along with giving the IC belt to McIntyre -- should be a good move for the WWE. I doubt it'll last very long though, but we'll see what happens. I'd love to see these two get a somewhat lengthy run with the belts.

I don't put much stock into the backstage teasing bits. Remember when they had Cena and Swagger confront each other backstage a couple months ago?

I imagine you'll get a Sheamus vs. Cena feud heading into Rumble, Cena gets the belt back, loses it to someone at the Elimination Chamber and feuds with Taker at Mania.

Who is that someone? Well, that I don't know. Logic dictates it'll likely be Orton as I think that's the only way Orton gets the belt back in time for Mania without it seeming too soon to do another Cena vs. Orton feud. I also think Orton ends up taking on the Rumble winner and my money, right now, is on either Kofi or Dibiase.

As for the other Mania matches, I'd say you're looking at HBK vs. HHH as the main event, Cena vs. Taker, Orton vs. Kofi, Batista vs. Mysterio, and Punk vs. Hardy (assuming he's back in time). Throw in MITB, a divas match and there's your card.

Are we talking Jeff or Matt? I thought Jeff was going away for a much longer time?

I was under the assumption Jeff was gone until he felt like coming back and, really, that type of exit almost always points to a Mania return.

I'd kind of like to see Jeff in MITB but, then again, that's probably just because he's my fiancee's favorite character and she needs some good news in the WWE (Tonight alone she rooted for Shelton, Cena, Morrison, Mickie James, Batista and Kofi).

    Like 3-5 years?
Is he still facing those drug charges in North Carolina?

Probably would have been received a lot better if it was Kofi getting the belt. He's been around a little longer and has actually held a title. Sheamus has come out of nowhere and is obviously still a bit green.

But they didn't want to end something that was good -- Kofi vs. Orton -- that quickly. That was one of the hottest feuds going over the last couple weeks.

Oh, I was just using Kofi as an example. You could also say Morrison, Christian, Benjamin, maybe even Miz or Swagger. Any one of them would have been better received than Sheamus.
