That was the name. I didn't know Nigel, as I've never seen ROH, but I'd heard good things about him. Former ROH champion.

    I like him already.

WWE originally signed McGuiness (sp) and placed him in their developmental along with Bryan Danielson. They let McGuiness go because of a concern of his concussions.

I'd never seen him either before he went to TNA, although I'd heard of him. He's very good, although I wish they'd let him keep his name. Desmond Wolfe's a pretty good sounding name, but I think McGuiness just sounds really cool.

From his ROH days: Not a great shot of the shirt, but you can see where it's going.

Me too, though he looked an awful like a taller Lance Storm.

O.K., I've got to admit it. Watching Johnny Damon kiss Mae Young was pretty funny.

But frankly, Raw was a pretty good show, until about the last 20 minutes.

That last segment violated one of the 10 pillars of comedy -- that midgets are always funny.
Also, the midget that Big Show sideslammed looked like he thumped his skull on the mat.

Yeah. Seriously, Hornswaggle is THAT popular? They had midget wrestlers when I was a kid too, and I never cared much for them. I was too busy watching the Rockers and Hulk Hogan. If anything, the WWE should be pushing Evan Bourne and Primo Colon as a legit tag team, instead of jobbers to the stars.

It's just bizarre to have the WWE, on one hand, pushing Sheamus to the moon, and on the other, burying every other young talent on Raw with the exception of Kofi Kingston and the Miz. Swagger jobbed again to Cena, and unless there is an upset on ECW, will probably job to Yoshi as well; his push and abrupt un-push reminds me of what they did to MVP last year, who still haven't recovered from that. Bourne went from a guy who was a serious ECW championship challenger to completely lost on Raw. Primo and Carlito were abruptly broken up and didn't even get a good ending-feud match.

It's not even like the veterans have been winning a lot of matches at the expense of the younger guys. The show is just bloated with stupid crap like midgets and guest hosting segments and DX shilling products, which is (sadly) one of the most enjoyable parts of the show now. I really wish they'd copy the approach of Smackdown, which feels like a better, more unpredictable show to me.

The Cena-Swagger match was frustrating. On the one hand, Swagger got most of the offense. He countered a lot of Cena's predictable bullshit. And the ending was good. Swagger made a mistake that led to the STFU. I can live with that.
What was annoying was Cena's offense. Swagger beats the shit out of him for two or three minutes, Cena gets in one punch and Swagger drops like he was hit with a bag of bricks. Then Swagger stays down for 30 seconds. I hate that shit.
    Still, it's better than a 30-second squash.

I know he tells us every time he comes out, but The Miz is indeed awesome. Beating up Sant(ino) Claus? Classic heel move.
He's phenomenal on the mic and getting better and better in the ring. Here's hoping he gets the push he deserves in 2010. Hell, maybe by the next Survivor Series we have Miz-Sheamus for the big belt.

I was worried when Show would drop the midget while he held him upside down out of the ring. That midget could have fallen wrong on his head.

They spent about half the show on DX and Hornswoggle. I think (I didn't feel like watching all of them) there were at least three court segments, another segment where Michaels got pulled under the ring, a replay of everything, then the final segment. That's six segments of DX and Hornswoggle (unless I missed one or counted one twice).

Why the heck are they spending so much time on this crap (besides the obvious) when there are young guys who are ready to shine who are getting squashed or ignored.
