Turned in my ballot about halftime, the entire fourth quarter I was reconsidering sending it again. However, I think I will give FSU the benefit of a doubt in a great game that was in a rivalry and I want to give Miami one more week to impress before sticking them into my 25.

Poll's in, and I thought I'd explain why I dropped Iowa from No. 23 to off my ballot (they're the only school who won that I lowered).

It's not because of their close call against UNI, although that was pretty week. Bigger problem for them is the loss of Jewel Hampton, the only running back who could have come close to replacing Shonn Greene. With Hampton injured, and the Hawkeye receivers being, well, the Hawkeye receivers, it could be a rough Big Ten run for Iowa.

The Missouri demolishing of Illinois surprised me, too, but I guess some teams just reload at the skill positions -- or at least they do in the Big 12. Meanwhile, Illinois still is looking for someone to fill Rashard Mendenhall's shoes. They get bigger every day.
