well LeBron is averaging about 5 points less than everyone expected. but i guess you're right. unless House and Arroyo step up that won't change.

Let me try and help Junkie with his point. Superstars or no, you have to have everyone playing like a team, which means eventually the little guys -- whomever they are -- contribute when called upon. And that might mean setting screens, rebounding, playing defense, or in general, just running hard on the break to keep defe nders from swarming the ball every time the superstar takes it across mid-court.

Superstars do matter in the NBA more than any other sport, but if guys aren't buying into doing all the dirty stuff that lets the Superstar do his thing, then it doesn't work. Those Laker teams in 1999 and 2000 actually really did need Ron Harper, Derek Fisher and AC Green to do a lot of the little things so that Shaq, Kobe and Glenn Rice could co-exist and get all the credit. But Ron Harper was just as important to that team as Rice or Kobe in many respects.

Many, except the crucial one where 50 guys could have played the role of Harper & no one else could have played Kobe. Rice, I'm not sure why you put with the stars, was he that important to that team?

    LeBron - wing
    Wade - wing
Bosh - "big" but more of a wing

They will not win until they do this, and I do not think they can...

There are three areas on the court, top, wing and post, and if you have great players all playing the same spot, that leaves 2/3rds of the floor not covered.

I would expect a monster trade involving James to be coming around Christmas. Maybe to the Knicks for Amare?

I would not be suprised if it was this year.

If they are faultering around .500 in 15-20 games, I could see the move being made. But it would be James/Wade or Bosh for a big and a point.

    faUltering?

I could use some extra shopping money. $100 says this doesn't happen, this year or next year.

I'll PM you the PayPal account you will send the money to.

    Sixers
    22-5 after getting Malone

    Lakers
    20-7 after getting Gasol

    Celtics
22-3 after adding Garnett and Allen

If they are .500 at Christmas, they are not winning the title. Not wagering that the Heat are smart enough to figure this out, though.

They're not going to blow it up after less than half a season. They likely wouldn't blow it up after a pair of non-title seasons. If some desperate team wants to take a 30-year-old Wade, a soft Bosh or a disgraced LeBron off their hands then, more power to them.

Erik Spoelstra will be gone before Christmas. LeBron, Wade and Bosch aren't going anywhere.

The most likely scenario. No way are they dealing any of the three this early in; but if things don't get better, the coach could well be history.
