In other meltdowns, Rockets 109, Lakers 99, and the teams' radio crews says this is the first time in Phil Jackson's NBA coaching career that his team has lost four straight.

We need to look up whether that ever happened when Jackson was in charge of the Albany Patroons.

They need Bynum to get his ass back but he's probably two to three weeks away, and it's been annoying Phil because this recovery is taking so long and they're not adding anyone. Their inside presence is severely diminished, and Pau is racking up minutes and it's wearing him out.

Spurs and their veteran trio are playing like NBA champions.
DeJuan Blair is an example of a draft-day steal.
    Richard Jefferson is rejuvenated.
Gary Neal is exploding onto the scene and George Hill was the right choice to keep when the team got rid of the other reserve guard Roger Mason.

The Spurs look really good, deep (saw them beat my Warriors handily) but how about last night on NBATV?

BLAKE GRIFFIN is a MONSTER! He is so explosive around the rim. Needs to work on free throws and a reliable mid-range game but oh my, I love the way he dunks in traffic. Vince Carter was nice but breakaway dunks are ballet; Griffin dunks are like the old 'Nique in traffic where you go "where did that come from?"

Interesting to see how the NBA All Star voting goes. Will LeBron lose 25% of the votes he got last year? No Change? If there is Karma, he won't be voted in.

He's a lot like Shawn Kemp, but not as sleek looking. He jumps and when you figure that he'll come down, he just keeps on elevating.

I'm not worried, but I'm officially annoyed with the Lakers.

Unlike USC fans who lamented the Rose Bowls under Carroll while forgetting the Paul Hackett era, I'm fine with the Lakers losing a few games in November. And yes, even December.

Would be nice to have Bynum back, though. That's annoying.

As I said, I think annoyed is a better term than worried, because I know they'll be fine, and even if they don't want chase 65 wins, that's fine too. But four losses in a row -- and crappy defense in most of them -- annoys me. You're back-to-back champs. Three losses in a row is no fun, but it happens. Four games in a row and it's time to play a little harder.

I've convinced relying on Bynum for anything is a foolish endeavor.

If they said that they were very much mistaken. Now, a Phil Jackson team has never won four straight and then won a title, if you're into those types of numbers. But he's lost four straight seven times in his career.

With Wade's body, that's another reason I don't necessarily buy this idea that people say the Heat will be really dangerous in two or three years. Sure, the thinking goes, they might struggle this year but then, title after title. I don't see it. Wade's not going to be getting any fresher the next few years (obviously they could add other parts, a different star, etc., but I don't buy the idea that the Big 2 + Bosh will be peaking when Wade's 31 years old).

    Lakers miss Mbenga.

I'm amazed at the ability of the Spurs front office to find these bargains year after year after year. Look at their roster:

They stole Dejaun Blair with a second round pick, stole Manu Ginobli with the next to last pick of the second round, stole Tony Parker with the 28th pick, swiped Splitter with a 28th pick, discovered a wonderful diamond in the rough in George Hill playing at IUPUI, found a quality guard in the undrafted Neal, and somehow turned frickin Matt Bonner into a quality NBA role player. And let's not forget the championships they won starting undrafted guys like Bruce Bowen and Oberto.

There are some seriously smart or insanely lucky folks in that front office.
