Spurs off to team's best start ever here.
The record is 19-3 after pulling away from the Hawks at the 10-minute mark in the 4th and winning by double digits.
Manu and Tim rested late, while DeJuan Blair was tenacious again.
Richard Jefferson was 5-of-6 from three-land with 18 points.

The NBA season really is just interminably long, isn't it?

Knicks-Celtics game was some serious entertainment tonight, totally enhanced by the fact that Dan Shulman, Van Gundy and Mark Jackson were doing the broadcast. Not a lot of defense - Felton went coast-to-coast for a layup off a made basket in the fourth quarter - but still a blast to watch. I'm not a Knicks fan, but it's nice to see them relevant again.

MSG was rocking tonight for that game. Pierce with the dagger and Amare was a split-second late on the game winner. Still had like 40 or close to it. Guess he's pretty good. But the Knicks haven't beaten anyone this year. Tonight was a serious step backward for them. Gotta win those games if you want to be taken seriously.

Yeah, I agree about the lack of a win against a quality opponent, but the fact that MSG was rocking makes them relevant. You were at the game? I think it was M Jax who said early in the game that the place actually lacked a playoff-type atmosphere, but that sure wasn't the case in the second half.

Awesome atmosphere at AT&T Center tonight where Spurs (21-3) got an off-balance jumper by Ginobili to beat Milwaukee at the horn.
The city is buzzing over this team, which can win its 4th NBA title in 9 seasons if this momentum keeps up.

Spurs blew an 18-point lead, BTW, but who cares.

Just looked up in time to catch a quick glance at the Ginobili shot, didn't see it very well, and it looked like he took an awkward jump stop. Did anybody from the Bucks bitch about a travel?

No, at the last second he hopped backward to separate and got the shot off.
Milwaukee didn't bitch about it, that I saw.

Travel? On Manu? But if they'd called it - and I think it was; he hopped back only after taking an earlier step - Spurs fans would have to whine about the NBA not wanting them to win because they're boring.

Lakers - looking for their third title in three years - took a little revenge on the Pacers. Kobe and Gasol combine for 59 points, no turnovers.

I think Knicks fans would be fairly happy with tonight's game. Yeah, they've beaten up on the bad teams so far this year, but so have the Lakers and the Heat. In years past, the Knicks weren't beating anyone, much less competing against the likes of the Celtics and Nuggets, who they beat Sunday. They've got a real tough schedule the next month but I think they'll survive it all right. Knicks fans are complaining that there should have been .6 or .7 after Pierce's shot, which, considering the way it ended, made a little difference. It was funny watching the Knicks go bananas thinking they'd won when you could tell in real time Amare clearly got the shot off late. Blitz, did you have any bad .4 memories...

Noah's out 8 to 10 weeks after thumb surgery for the streaking Bulls.

    Here's Manu.

It looks worse right away and is closer than I thought originally, but I still think it was traveling. And the Twitterati, who are never wrong, agree.

    Thanks for dropping by, JC
What I've said over and over and over and over and over is that only some of the games are staged. Not all of them.
    And more aren't than are.
The mystery surrounding which are and which aren't keeps the wide world of pro sports interesting.
Again, this is my opinion. You are welcome to yours.

BTW, Bogut was outstanding tonight, especially on defense.

After pause-starting it four times, I think it was a travel, too, because both feet were planted and stopped, THEN he bounced backward and shot, after both feet hit the deck again. It's a tricky call for the refs because it was so quick and awkward. Still an amazing, tough shot, but I think he cheated.

Easy call on the Amare shot. I don't blame the Knicks people for going bonkers, but it was pretty easy to tell it was late even without the replay. As Van Gundy said, "Why do they need to keep looking at this?"
