One of the years they got past Boston (swept them), they ran into one of the greatest one-year teams of all-time: the 1983 76ers. They were the only team to beat that Sixers team in the playoffs that year ... they got taken out 4-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals.

I remember that series and those teams very well. As a gawky, unathletic power fwd I like to think I patterned my game after Jack Sikma (who was anything but:))

It could be that you have teenage memories color your entire world moving forward but I still remeber Andrew Toney as being crazy unstoppable.

I don't know if the stats show it but he just seemd like such an assassain.

Guess they're not calling hanging on the rim anymore. Yes, there was a guy on the ground right under him, but at what point did J.R. Smith look down? Gallinari had one against the Celtics, too.

That was a legit Dunk of the Year. Just look at where Smith took off from. Crazy.

He's still subpar, but I did see him make an effort against the Cs. There were plays he would have given up on in the past that he stayed with; one time he got a block out of it. I think he's picked up his D and rebounding, albeit if only incrementally.

Good win for the Heat tonight. They're finally starting to have an identity which is to get the ball to LeBron and Wade for an outlet and try to get as many fastbreak points as possible, which is why the Knicks were a very good matchup for them. Having said all that, there's no chance in hell this type of ball will beat the Celtics(or maybe even the Bulls) in the playoffs. You'll get a lot of wins in the season, but you're going to need have a strong and sophisticated type of offense to win in June. Not to mention the fact that they have a below average bench, they face an inevitable Chris Bosh playoffs choke that you can see coming from a mile away, and Carlos Arroyo and Zydrunas Illgaskus make up 40% of their starting lineup.

He wasn't dubbed the Boston Strangler for nothing, and he forced the Celts to trade for DJ (Rick fing Robey?).

Pretty sick dunk as well, and I love, freaking love, when the ball is never dribbled on a fast break. Dribbling only slows you down.

It sounds like a big deal is about to go down, or has went down.

ESPN News - Chris Broussard: Magic to trade Vince Carter to Suns for Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu in 6-player deal

BREAKING NEWS: two deals are completed. (Wash and Orlando) Gilbert Arenas for Rashard Lewis; (Phx and Orlando) Vince Carter, Gortat, Pietrus for Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson, Clark.

Orlando trades for the two most untradeable contracts in the league.

They also got rid of Rashard Lewis' giant contract. Isn't he the 2nd highest paid player in the league this year? Gortat was also making quite a bit for a guy that plays backup to the best center in the NBA.

Desperate deal for the Magic. I like the Lewis-Arenas trade, because Gil adds a different dimension offensively, but the swap with Phoenix essentially exchanged a whole lotta nothing for a whole lotta nothing. They're still not better than Boston and a healthy Chicago.
