Not a big Varlamov fan. Wouldn't be surprised if Neuvirth and Holtby battle it out for number one, eventually.

That was nice. Almost as good as Scott Hartnell of the Flyers getting dummied by Keith (Muhammad) Aulie.

It was a thing of beauty. And Aulie's only 21 and looks about as mild mannered as they come.

Scott Hartnell? Yeah, he has a 126 penalty minutes. Keith Aulie? He's never fought before in the NHL.

And yet in this image, taken at 1:41 of the second, Hartnell starts a scrap, lands a punch and then eats a half-dozen bombs served up from Aulie's right fist.

When the linesmen jump in, Hartnell is curled up on the ice like an old sleeping bag and the Leafs are seriously fired up.

It was really nice to see, especially after Aulie took not one but two cross-checks right before the fight - one from Briere in the back and one from Hartnell in the face simply because Hartnell had tried to check Aulie and failed miserably. Assholes.

I think Varly is done in DC. Neuvirth has totally taken that job from him. Been playing out of his mind.

Curtis Joseph? I don't know how much he got but I remember it was a big deal.

(Off topic, but this back-to-back against Anaheim and San Jose -- and a BS no-goal on Franzen -- is rough for the Wings.)

The Flyers could be playing Satan's Army and I wouldn't cheer for them. It's been an asshole team since the days of the Broad Street Bullies and the biggest of all was and is Bobby "We Didn't Ask Roger To Get Cancer" Clarke.

There's not another team in the league that I wish fail on every time they play. Like HC said last night, I liked Briere when he played for the Sabres. Now he's just another asshole.

Nah, you just like being a little whiny bitch. But to be expected of someone who thinks Mike Scioscia is a good manager.

Of course, I also never said where my allegiances lie.

Ernie Harwell always thought you're a Red Wings fan and I agree with Ernie.

And, octopus breath, the Scioscia thing is between me and BYH (and Mike Napoli and Vernon Wells) so keep your fanboi looser nose out of it.

I'm sort of curious why people are down on Varly. If it's just the injuries then I understand. I think his very best game is better than Neuvirth's very best, but the consistency isn't there. Neuvirth seems more composed and more comfortable in there.

I'm not so high on Holtby either. Well, I like him fine as a backup, but I'm not sure he's a starting goalie for a playoff team even a few years from now. I'm hardly an expert though and will listen to reasons why I could be wrong.

Word for word, good sir. Bobby Clarke is about as low as it goes.

    And that's not just physically.
