Good lord, the Rangers have a tendency to pile up 6-0 and 7-0 wins. Thankfully it was against someone other than the Caps this time.

If you read what I wrote, I never said they should respect each other like they did back in the 60s, 70s, 80s etc. or anything to that extent.

All I said is they should show some respect for each other now, especially with the advancements in research regarding concussions coming forward. The fact is the vast majority of players do play with respect and still manage to be physical -- yes even some of those third and fourth line plugs -- however, it is the players that don't that need to be reigned in, whether it is taken care of by the players, the league or both. As I have stated many times, I would much rather see a fight, let them get it out of their system, and have it be done -- as is the norm -- than to see it devolve into something much uglier and much more dangerous.

Thanks...I thought he got more. He was a bust so glad he didn't.

I'm not sure I'd call him a bust (9.09 and 9.12 Save % and 2.49 and 2.39 GAA in his two years with the Wings but he was on the downside of his career

I think he finished his best years after he didn't re-sign with the Leafs and (this is just my opinion) his road hockey style of goaltending relied somewhat on quick reflexes. Those reflexes diminish as you grow older. He never seemed to adapt to a more effiicient style, i.e. butterfly, unlike guys like Tim Thomas, the last of the great road hockey goalies.

Guys like Ted Lindsay and John Ferguson have no idea what you're talking about. :D

Doug Harvey once speared Red Sullivan of the Rangers in the stomach, rupturing his spleen and almost killing him. I believe Sullivan was given the last rites at one point, but he did recover.

Harvey, meanwhile, expressed no remorse for what he had done, telling a reporter, "I hope the son of a bitch dies. Put that in your newspaper."

Harvey was the best defenseman of his era, Habs haven't had a player like that for a while.

Alexander Semin continues to be such an enigma for Washington, but I guess Arnott is putting a skate up his ass lately. His game-winner last night in OT continues a trend in which the Caps are undefeated in games he's scored in this year.

Why I can't stand sports talk radio, reason #26,743: Whoever that was on Sports Hub yesterday afternoon crying about how the Bruins are about to take a nosedive just because the Pens took them in OT Saturday (and the point Krejci salvaged on the tying goal with 32 seconds left in regulation pulls Boston within two of Philly for the EC top seed. No matter that, in four Boston-Pittsburgh games this year, the Bruins have led for a total of 11 minutes yet pulled out seven of a possible eight points.
Beat Montreal tomorrow, guys. I don't want to hear about an on-air suicide.

Not to mention Eddie Shore on Ace Bailey

Not to mention the incident that ignited the Richard Riot in '55. Here's an excerpt from the game story by the Globe's Rex Macleod:

Richard, who, it is maintained, goes into a violent rage at the sight of blood, especially if it is his own, erupted characteristically late in the third period in Boston after being high-sticked by Laycoe.

Laycoe said later that Richard started it by cutting him with his stick, but at the time of the outbreak referee Frank Udvari was ordering Laycoe off with a five-minute major for high-sticking Richard and drawing blood.

In the ensuing ruckus Richard supposedly whacked Laycoe twice with his stick, once on the head and once on the shoulder. Between attacks on Laycoe, he is also alleged to have tagged linesman Thompson with a right-handed punch to the face.

Richard required five stitches for a facial cut; Laycoe was cut above one eye and below the other. Thompson came out of the affray with a pronounced shiner, a testimonial to Richard's accurate aim.

Whacks Laycoe in the head a couple of times with his stick and then slugs a linesman.

Let's see, that'd be probably a season's suspension in today's league. Or three games, depending on how Campbell is feeling. :)

Should be a fun game in Tampa tonight between Lightning and Caps.

Especially when Boudreau says the Lightning dive "every two seconds."

Don't tell me people in D.C. (or anywhere, for that matter) call them the 'Ning.
