Holtby had the save of the night, using the shaft of his stick to stop a near point-blank shot in midair against Tampa. That's after Neuvirth started and played the first period too.

Five in a row for Caps now. Two up on Tampa. And don't look now, but they're only two back of Philly for 1st in the East, though the Flyers have two games in hand ...

Avalanche vs. Wild is on Versus tonight. Colorado hasn't won since January.

Ratings, we don't need no stinkin' ratings.

Given that Mario Lemieux said the NHL "failed" to "send a clear and strong message" following that Islanders-Penguins debacle, seems to me Lemieux might have been right. Gillies never got the message, taking all of 111 seconds to draw his next suspension. And Garth Snow inexplicably supported Gillies, showing that the Islanders' front office never got the message.

If you get it in your area, the Bruins/Habs game is the one to watch. First time they've met since their braw-filled game of Feb 9

Boy, that would be better to watch than Wild-Avs. Good work Versus.

The Avs have fallen real far since the Sakic days.

Can't watch it here except on the TSN French language network but only in Quebec and certain parts of Eastern Canada. We're stuck with the Leafs and the Islanders.

Paccoretty just got messed up by the end of the boards near the Canadiens' bench. Chara gave him a check and he just went full tilt into the edge. I didn't see him move an inch for a good couple of minutes and he was wheeled off on a stretcher.

I've seen players get roughed up by that part but that was the worst I've seen.

Clearly Chara had it out for him after last 2 outings. 3rd period should be interesting.

That hit by Chara on Pacioretty into the stanchion was not just blatantly illegal but could be construed as intent to injure.

If the Caps end up taking the Bruins for second spot in the East, it would mean it'd be a Habs/Bruins first round. Now that would be fun!
