Here's Kypreos take on Omark, I agree with him on the risk VS reward component of what Omark did.

Ducks announcer Brian Hayward did a pretty good job sorting it out. It's not on the video, but they mentioned a few minutes later the righty-lefty thing.

I don't see anything wrong with anything Omark did, including the spinnerama. Good for him. Next time I hope he does the deke and flip shot.

which would actually might result in a goal. A spinarama at centre provides absolutely nothing that might affect whether he scores or not. I love all the other stuff Omark has tried.

I have no problem with hotdogging and trying new things in the shootout, none at all. A spinarama at centre serves no purpose.

If people like it, fine, different strokes. My problem is the cliched BS about "how it distracted the goalie", "balls to try something".

I would love to see the reaction if he actually lost an edge.

He'd be ridiculed, and rightly so. We love failure just as much as we love success - sometimes we love failure more!! :D

The horseshit about distracting the goalie or disrespecting the game or the Lightning or whatever is just that - horseshit. My hockey philosophy dictates that, if it's not against the rules, do it. Who cares if somebody thinks you're showing them up? If they have a problem with it, let them bring it on or stop you from doing it in the first place.

All of which means I also advocate for some things that are totally against the rules. ;)

I love the way Dan Ellis whined about the move. This is a guy who has a save % of .876 and a GAA of 3.23 and for some inexplicable reason is not in the AHL

Hey, Dan, stop the puck and then there won't be any controversy.

And this is the same guy who complained on Twitter about his money problems as a professional athlete.

That's OK, Dan. With any luck next year you'll be riding the buses for the Florida Everglades

How could he stop the puck JR, he was "distracted" from the pirouette at centre.

  9. I'm with you, DJ. Nothing wrong with Omark's move. HOWEVER, my only caveat is, if you do something goofy like that, you'd better score, else you wind up looking like an ass (not to mention wasting a shootout attempt and possibly costing your team a standings point).

Which is why, if I'm Tom Renney, as soon as he skates over to the bench, I'm paraphrasing what Lou Brown told Willie Mays Hays after making a basket catch in "Major League."

"Great move. Don't EVER do it again." ;D

And Puck Daddy brings you Drinking Games for tonight's "HBO SPORTS’ 24/7 PENGUINS/CAPITALS: ROAD TO THE NHL WINTER CLASSIC"

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Puck-Daddy-s-Unofficial-HBO-24-7-Penguins-Capita?urn=nhl-296121

    Take two drinks if:

    • Ovechkin is referred to as "brash," "flashy," or "a rock star."
    • Crosby is referred to as "a leader," "focused/determined" or "a warrior."
    • Mike Green(notes) is seen wearing sunglasses. (Bonus Drink: He's actually outdoors.)

Haven't had HBO for a few years now but I suppose I'll be able to find it online somewhere

Hoping to find it online as well, JR. More concerned about the Caps pulling their heads out of their asses tonight against Anaheim, in reality.

Are we going to have a separate WJC thread?
