WashPost tweets that Varlamov will start between the pipes for the Caps tomorrow.

No Greg Joly for the Caps?

Really though that game should not have been close, obviously no one wants to run up a score or embarrass someone else, but no harm in actually wanting to win by a couple of goals.

It was pretty relaxed. The players - especially the Pens - were trying for some pretty passes and highlight reel goals. Just didn't happen.

I will let you believe the myth.

We honestly won't know if it's a myth or not until April. I tend to think that the events of last year (the disaster at the Olympics and the first-round playoff exit) were humbling for Ovechkin and that he's grown from it. We'll see in the postseason when it counts.

Winter Classic just got another storyline: Jordan Staal will make his season debut tonight.

Not shocking, seeing as he's been working his way back during the 24/7 airings.

  9. Yes. That's exactly what I meant in terms of being a diva. I don't know what he's like in terms of the locker room, but it seems like every time an opponent even looks at him the wrong way, he goes whining to the refs, and God forbid anyone actually tries to hit him.

Late last season, Evander Kane had the audacity to actually put a hard, clean check on him, and the Penguins spent the rest of that period trying to skewer him with their sticks. Of course, Kane's one-punch knockout of Matt Cooke put a stop to that.

Don't watch a lot of hockey do you?

  11. Been watching hockey since I was a child in the early 1970s. You?

The "Sid is a whiner" shtick is very tired and very old.

Everybody bitches to the refs about penalties but because Sid is so high profile, he's a target for the Crosby-haters.

He's the best player in the world right now. It's not even debatable.
