According to the Whalercanes beat writer, Kulemin got a few jabs in prior to Gleason's finishing the issue. And for what it's worth, JR, Gleason was issued a game misconduct.

Mirtle's facts aren't different, but obviously the Leafs players stood up for Kulemin and believe Gleason didn't abide by The Code.

    Wilson's response is troubling.

After seeing the umpteenth promo for TSN's all star game fantasy draft, I can't see how this format can have any legs. After this year will anyone give a shit who gets picked last?

He has an obligation to his players, coach is not an objective observer. Old school guys like Arbour and Bowman would never let this go.

Maybe he wasn't happy Kulemin put himself in that situation in the first place.

Bowman has criticized his players on more than a few occasions in the press

Gleason said he felt badly for Kulemin but after the second punch to the head, he'd had enough.

Gleason's old man wasn't impressed with the call on his kid.

After the ejection, Gleason returned to the locker room to lift weights and watch the game on TV. He said he did make a call to his father.

"I called the ol' Pops," he said. "He was probably more sour than I was. He was yelling and screaming. If he was the head coach he would have been kicked out for 10 games probably."

After looking at the replay a couple of times, I'm on Wilson's side here.

You wanna muck it up after a whistle and start with the face-washes, you get what you deserve.

According to Mirtle, Kulemin will play tonight against Tampa.

Derwood - I agree it's rare for a coach to differ from his player as much as Wilson did from MacArthur. But if he says "we've got a couple games left against them, let's see what happens" like MacArthur did, and then somebody cheapshots Gleason, where does that leave him?

And I bet Burke's in no hurry to get sued again. Not sayin' this is Moore/Naslund, but still.

This is it. We're all sick of watching guys who do shit like this after the whistle, then run and hide while his teammates go, "Oh, he's not a fighter, you can't hit him." Screw that. Learn to fight or keep your fucking hands down and out of other guys' faces.

Besides, it's not like Gleason is a goon who runs around singling out non-fighters. He's a gritty player who sticks up for himself, and that's just what he did last night.
