All is not lost with your bunch, lisa. Thing is, it was either trade Kovalchuk or let him walk for nothing. Something was gotten for him, there's no big contract - that's the Devils' problem now - and these players, while not HOFers, are still better than watching Kovalchuk walk out the door for nothing.

Believe me, I am no stranger to the concept of "get something for a guy who's about to walk while the getting is still good." I've been following this damn team since its inception, and have been a KC Royals fan since I was five. And the Kovy deal is unquestionably far better than what we got from the Penguins for Marian Hossa. But make no mistake about it, the three guys we got for Kovalchuk are not, in total, equivalent to a player of his caliber. Period.

No argument there, lisa. I hear you ... that HAS to be frustrating. To see my NHL team have success the last few years has been a lot of fun and has surpassed my expectations. Unlike the other tenants of the ESA ...

Windsor's winless in its last three and got bombed 8-2 tonight by Erie. The Spits' run is over. Oh-vu-her.

The hottest team in the OHL right now? Six straight wins, 9-1 in its last 10 games? First place in the Western Conference? Yep....Owen Sound. :)

The Red Deer Rebels are on a similar hot streak, now 13-1-0 in their last 14. Only loss was a terrific game in Saskatoon who may be the only team better than Red Deer in the WHL's Eastern Conference.

When players don't want to play there, they got far more than people should expect. Hossa and Kovalchuck were never going to sign there, never, they did as well as they could. The market is a joke.

Spits are in town today to play the Battalion (see you there, Huggy!)

    Brampton will be in tough.

Good to see Matt Cooke is still a filthy piece of shit.

I didn't mind it when he played for the Caps. But he may have to miss a game or two for the take down of Ovie late. What a scumbag.

Great back-to-back wins for the Cappies though. These last two games they've been stout defensively and they've finally realized you need to crash the net to score. They seem committed to doing that and it's working. Of the eight goals they've scored, five were from charging to the net. Another was on the PP and the other two were empty netters. They've suddenly started playing like a team that wins playoff series. No one could say that last year.

Indeed. That Tampa game was a huge turning point. Top line got going. That Johannsen goal shortie was a thing of beauty. Backhand, top shelf, through two defenders. Awesome.
