Missed the 3rd on account of driving in to work. I'll assume the Cooke hit was dirtier than Steckel's braining of Crosby and Ovechkin's playoff cheap shot of Sergei Gonchar. 'Cause those were pretty clean, right?

Look, I'll never argue that Cooke isn't a p.o.s. But if he really ran Ovechkin, well, Ovechkin has earned it. Several times over.

Jesus, we're going to do this again? Not arguing the Ovechkin-Gonchar play. It wasn't clean. But Steckel just ran into Crosby. There was no malice there.

Steckel was even moving away from Crosby when there was contact. The only ones who think the contact with Steckel was malicious are those who WANT it to be malicious.

Cooke didn't have a goalie running to his aid this time?
    Bummer.

Saw the Cooke hit on Ovechkin - little too reminiscent of the Ulf Samuelsson leg-to-leg check that took years off Cam Neely's career.
BTW, looks like Savard's done for the season...with post-concussive symptoms, maybe his career.

Kessel, as gifted as he is, is his own worst enemy. After a long rush and a great scoring chance he decided to curl around and pick up the puck again in the neutral zone instead of heading back to the bench. He was clearly gassed. A Sabres player (forgot who) stripped him of the puck and Buffalo scored.

Wilson put him on the 3rd line at practice today.

Sorry, Phil, you're turning into the new version of Jason Blake

Quelle surprise, there is a rift between Kessel and Wilson. Toronto media will be all over this one....

Crosby will not play in February, March is possible.

Elliotte is reporting via Twitter that Kessel spoke to his teammates and said that his comments were misconstrued. Quelle Surprise.

Kessel’s confidence was sagging before the all-star break and was rocked when he was picked last by the captains at the all-star game - on national televsion.

Horseshit Steckel knew exactly hat he was doing. I don't think it was malicious at all but Steckel did nothing to avoid it.
