That is some complete horseshit right there trying to lay any blame on Johnson for that. I didn't know there was such thing as an Isles fanboi

My personal feeling is that goalies shouldn't be fighting, period, but it looks to me, without being able to see the exact circumstances that prompted Michael Haley to take on Johnson after already having taken down Max Talbot, that Johnson probably got what was coming to him. I can't see any other reason for Haley to come down that way other than getting called out by a goalie. But see my comments above, re: "crazy" and "stupid".

And no, Godard should not have jumped in. Pens were already down 8-2, the game was well out of hand, Johnson had already proven that he has no compunction about throwing punches (if we're talking about M-A Fleury, maybe I change my mind) and again, Godard knew exactly what he was doing and what the consequences would be. There was so much stupid on display there, it's mind-boggling.

Why would Johnon have anything coming to him? The fight between him and Dipetro was consensual, he didn't jump him, didn't cheap shot him just knocked him the fuck out. He won a fight, it happens, he deserved nothing.

Read my comments again. I was talking specifically about Johnson vs. Haley in the Islanders game. I still think Johnson's a dumbass and that goalie fights have no place in the NHL, but if you're a goalie and you're gonna scrap, be prepared to take the heat for it, both on and off the ice.

Ok humour me and explain what Johnson did to Haley that he had that coming? Johnson fought Dipietro after Dipetro started the whole mess, so does Dipietro have something coming next time he plays. What Haley did was so beyond bush league it is unbelievable. he skated a 175 feet to get to him, you're telling me that is not pre-meditated. I just read that you actually thought Johnson deserved to be discplined for having 2 fights, what exactly would he be disciplined for. H

The game was already 8-2 by that point. Even the dumbest of goons doesn't go after a goalie "just because". I wasn't there, obviously, and I can only see what the TV footage shows me. I am inclined to believe that Johnson baited Haley into coming after him, because he's just nuts enough to try it. And yes, that's exactly the kind of thing I would expect to see any player be disciplined for. But again, as I was reminded this afternoon, can't discipline stupid. And there was plenty of stupid to go around.

Also, before you ask, no, I do not live on Long Island, or anywhere in the tri-state area, for that matter.

Absolutely. The Pens have had their fair share of players who sometimes cross the limit -- Ulf, Cooke, Kasparitus, Laraque, etc. -- but every team does. It's like looking to the NFL for a team that employs 53 players with spotless criminal records, it's just not going to happen.

As bad as Cooke is, he's never turned an entire hockey game into a Royal Rumble like the Islanders did Friday night.

Just watched the Penguins-Islanders highlights for the first time.

Pretty hard to blame Goddard for coming off the bench when someone is going after the goalie. That's weak. In a brawl, the only one who should pair off with the goalie is the opposing goalie.

Unless the goalie in question is Ray Emory. :D

he didn't bait him at all, Haley was called up for one reason and one reason only. It was clear retribution for Johnson 1 punching Dipietro. To put any blame on Johnson is insane.
