What the fuck happened to Joba?

I figured he'd blow the lead, but I didn't think he'd shit the bed like that.

Joba gives up a slam in the 8th, 4-1 Mariners for king Felix.

When Joba implodes, it's in a big way.

He has made 39 appearances this year.

In six (4 IP) of them, he has allowed 20 runs.
In the other 33 (33.1 IP) he has allowed just 5 runs, having 27 of those appearances be scoreless.

    That's nuts.

Who picked the players, some marketing intern?

And who considers Nick Swisher a home run hitter?

The Derby has become like the slam dunk contest. Fewer and fewer guys want to be in it, for fear they'll screw up their swings a la Bobby Abreu.

I get that, but how did they not ask the current leader in HRs?

Especially considering that a lot of the big name guys don't want to participate.

Time to scrap the HR Derby and either put the Futures Game (which is being played today at the Big A) or a rookie game on Monday night.

The one thing that makes the Slam Dunk contest better than the HR Derby: No Berman.

If Swisher's inclusion means gratuitous shots of his fiancee in the stands, I'm in favor of it:

I'd scrap the Derby AND the Futures game and stage something more likes a Rookies vs. Sophomores game on Monday. Most of the minor leagues have their own all-star games these days anyway.

So Zack Greinke tweaks a shoulder in the third inning in his last start.... yet he winds up throwing seven innings. Now he's scratched from today's start, because of shoulder pain. Makes sense. Although, if Hillman were in charge, Greinke probably would've thrown 140 pitches this afternoon.
