Meanwhile, Johan Santana is working on 15 scoreless innings and Ike Davis hit another 450-foot home run

And the Mets are still going to go 2-4 on their homestand.

Yeah, Johan 2-0 everybody else 0-4.

Manuel pulling Johan after 7 scoreless, 107 pitches, leading 2-0.
I think this is going to turn out badly.

If this happens, the Rangers will automatically become my favorite AL team:

doubledown, I didn't realize that was how it went with Greinke. With a guy like that, you take him out immediately and get the shoulder checked out. Stupid to leave him in. Now we wait to see how high the cost is going to be.

Not even a full inning into the Futures Game, and I'm already sick of Rick Sutcliffe. Does he HAVE TO gush about everyone? He's worse than Jon Gruden.

And what's with the talk that it's a crime Don Baylor is no longer a major league manager? (he's managing the US team in the Futures Game) He managed nine seasons and never finished in first. Baylor probably wouldn't be the worst manager in the majors if he got a job tomorrow, but it's by no means a travesty that he's just a hitting coach these days.

Yup. Agreed. Now, they insist it isn't serious. But the club has had a propensity to poo-poo every injury over the past few years. If Zumaya had been a Royal when he broke his elbow, they'd call it day-to-day, and only admit to something major when Zumaya showed up wearing the cast from Rookie of the Year.

Greinke's supposed to start on Friday... I'll believe it when I see it.

A shoulder problem is always reason for concern. I will also believe he is starting that game when I see it.

That's an exceptionally shitty list of participants.

Either the NY Post has better sources than the Dallas Morning News or they're just throwing shit against the wall.

Apologies for the crossthread, but given that the Post is alleging that the Devils have offered Ilya Kovalchuk a 17-year deal, I'd say it's the latter.

This is a question that has been sorta gnawing at me since Friday: How exactly, has Cliff Lee, of all players, become free agency's biggest hot potato? Dude's on his fourth team in 12 months, likely to be five come this offseason. Even the worst of clubhouse cancers don't get bounced around that much. Is there something about him behind the scenes that is just well-hidden, that teams don't want to hang onto him that long; or is it just that, as a Boras client, GMs have just reached their limit on dealing with his representation for more than five minutes at a time?
