I still say hold him until the Reds series. He hasn't pitched more than 6 innings in a given start, correct? You'd think they'd want to build him up a little more. If they wanted him up for the O's game, wouldn't they have let him pitch at least one -- maybe two -- more innings last night?

Give him 3 more starts in Cuse. Unless he's getting shelled, of course, I'd let him go 7+ in each one. THEN, bring him up.

He was on 80 pitches last night. Got exactly there in six dominant innings. A friend of mine got us tickets to the Reds series, the Sunday afternoon game actually, anticipating that'll be the debut.

Saturday's game is at 4:05 (or 4:35), in the Fox blackout window. Next Saturday, I mean, against the Os.

But it won't actually air on Fox?

Why is a fucking stud on an 80 pitch limit? The pussification of pitchers continues.

Oh, and fuck Roger Bernardina, whoever the fuck he is.

Moddy, a team for whom Jason Marquis holds a higher rank than fifth starter has defined its key problem most efficiently. But at least the 2010 Nats have advanced to the point where they have an identifiable main problem rather than just all-around haplessness. That means they have developed strong points to some extent.

Does Bill Pulsipher and Paul Wilson ring a bell?

Don't confuse spnited with facts. You raise a good point. The back of the Nationals' rotation has been very good. I don't expect Livan Hernandez to keep this up, but he's a nice placeholder for Strasburg. Also, having room in the rotation gave Scott Olsen a shot, which he has taken great advantage of.

Somebody please link that story that laid out the financial benefits of keeping Strasburg in the minors for two months, so spnited's guesswork about potential attendance can be buried under the same solid information that buried it a month ago.

I've been wondering if there's an exact date in terms of extending his free agency or whatever. So I posed the question to Dave Sheinin. Here's what he had to say....

"There is no exact date. It depends on a percentage of players of that service class. They could call him up for 5/23, but it would be a roll of the dice that would cost them $18 million if they're wrong. Safer bet is the Reds series."

    If there's a baseball universal, that's it.

Yep. And they'd be better off from a PR standpoint admitting to stealing sign than admitting to what they were really doing.
