He's not there yet, but will be, so what about Joe Torre? He won an MVP award and had a decent career.

Derrick Turnbow, reporting from closer hell, says Trevor Hoffman has somehow managed to suck worse than he did.

I don't think anyone needs to worry about Roy Halladay's pitch count. In his 4 starts this month he has thrown 118, 119, 121 and 132.
Tonight also was his 4th complete game in 9 starts. Pitching deep into games and not worrying about pitch count is what he does.
He's averaging just about 8 IP per start this season... 71 1/3 IP in 9 starts.

Guys, I think D-3 mentioned Girardi as an example of Florida managers facing unique difficulties, not of real good major leaguers becoming managers.

    Simply par for the course.

Wonder if the Nats will win again between now and then? Clippard returning to earth. He's gone from 6-0 to 7-3 in about five days. Nice timing to start getting hit, as they bring Storen up.

That's fine. I'll still take 20-20 after 40 games. Easy.

Mets and O's coming up. Cake. :)

Yeah, in the grand scheme - I never would have guessed 20 wins in 20 games. Manny only had 26 Ws when he was canned at the all-star break last year.
But I'm not fine with it after a 20-15 start.

I hear ya on that, Moddy. But I'm looking grand scheme this year. If it was 2011 and this happened, I'd be a little more bitter. Not this year.

Right after the Times did a nice profile of him.

Weren't a couple of his wins as a result of blowing a lead?

Isn't that usually par for the course for most relievers, though?
