Radio guys said that the last time a Cubs starter failed to retire a hitter was 1998.

    The pitcher was Jeremi Gonzalez

Boston allows 20 hits to Kansas City. Pardon me while I guffaw ...

    Beating up Boston is fun.

    Dear Pirates,
He made things interesting but got the job done. A blip and then back on track.
In case we haven't made it clear - THANK YOU.
    Love,
    The Nats

A lot of things are going right for the Nats. They even beat a pitcher for the Padres who wasn't listed on the lineup card:

Bud Black had Adam Russell listed as the starting pitcher, only he had been sent down to Triple A before the game. Clayton Richard started, got through the first, then Bud Black realized he had the wrong pitcher listed. Nats protested, but won the game.

Some good quotes in the story from Riggleman, Black and the ump.

Here come the prospects. The Giants called up catcher Buster Posey, who will start at first base, and the Orioles called up pitcher Chris Tillman.

Posey is an interesting one. Suppsoedly, the bat is major-league ready, but he was a ways off as a catcher. He had played other positions until four years ago, so the Giants have recently been getting him work at first so they can get him in the lineup now. They certainly need the help offensively.

David Huff, the starting pitcher for the Indians just tok a line drive from A-rod off of his head.

He's still down and is being taken off on a stretcher.

It didn't hit him flush, but is was a hard line drive that went off the left side of his forehead and continued on into left right field.

He just gave a thumbs up as we was carted off.

Hope he's ok. It did not look good.

The Cubs continue to mismanage Aramis Ramirez. He was already struggling before revealing that he has been playing with a sore thumb for a while. They finally sit him for a few days, give him a shot for it and he manages to return to the lineup for a whole two days before sitting again today. At what point do they actually have the sense to shut him down for a couple of weeks and try to get him healthy? It's not like he's helping them with a batting average around .160.

Anyone who recalls Hendry's handling of Mark Prior and Kerry Wood should not be surprised by this.

Not surprised at all. Just pointing out the latest bit of stupidity.
