Izzo won't leave, but 8 years $31.6 million? That's $1.5 million more per year.

He's hit that mark. MSU better get out the checkbook.

I almost wondering if they're throwing all these big names out there to piss off Few, wondering why they aren't coming after him.
Still, when you throw out names of coaches who have titles, wouldn't you be better off going after a coach who is right on the cusp? Like a coach stuck behind a North Carolina or a Duke, or a guy in the A10?

Few would probably be a great choice.

Agreed - Izzo won't leave. He's had opportunities before, but hasn't. He's done an amazing job with the Sparties.

Lavin's dad, Cap, a tremendous guard under Pete Newell, taught English and helped found the Bay Area Writing Project. Didn't know that.

Phil Knight is crazy if he thinks he can "buy" Izzo and bring him to Oregon. Oregon has money, but Sparty has the resources and everything in place to succeed.

Seton Hall had to settle on Willard, because McCaffery said no to them and St. John's.

Initial thoughts after watching the McCaffery presser: he has done his homework on Iowa and has a strong understanding of what to expect in the Big 10. He's hitting the phones tonight and re-recruit the 4 guys that are planning on coming, including former Hawk great Roy Marble's kid. The more I thought about McCaffery late Saturday night and when it was announced that he was going to be hired on Sunday, the more I like it.

I think what will help is to bring a couple of Juco kids in and get them in the lineup.

The contract is still being written-up but it will be a 6-yr deal, $1.1 mil/yr., with some incentives.

I'm listening to the local monkeys baiting callers to say something negative about McCaffery and the callers are still in defeatist mode. They want him to fail so badly, it's a joke.

Iowa fans will do anything to be inhospitable to new coaches. They did it to Miller, Lute, Raveling, and Davis. They are always miserable as hell to listen to.

Actually, no. Delusional fan base that equates Nike money with elite status.

Few's already reportedly rejected any and all offers from Oregon.

I'm loving this. Few's telling Oregon to f-off.

Looking at Few's record in the NCAA Tournament, Oregon got the better of that deal.

The problem with guys like Few is that what incentive does he have to leave Gonzaga other than short-term money. I'm not sure what he's making now, but his yearly cash flow has got to be pretty decent. Sure, not Nike monday, but still.
Plus, he's got long-term security. Knowing he wouldn't get fired for clubbing a baby seal during a halftime show is worth a hell of a lot.

As for him going to Oregon, how long would it take him to get recruits? The Ducks have a nationally known name, but it has much more to do with a little bit of football success than anything else. Recruiting into the Pac-10 (save for UCLA) this offseason (for the 2011 class) is going to be awfully tough.
