    Edwards gets three-race probation. Pathetic.

Wow. NASCAR just gave every driver permission to ram the shit out of anyone he feels like. The series is really that desperate to hold onto fans?

They've got serious balls spinning this as a design issue. "There's nothing wrong with spinning a guy a 195 mph - the problem is a design flaw that causes the car to go airborne when you do it!"

And all that cheap sheet metal that caved in the roof? And the parts that could have flown off and into the crowd? Shoddy workmanship, I tells ya!
I guess it really does take someone dying to effect change in NASCAR.

This is about par for the course. NASCAR is a complete friggin joke. I've been around this sport as a fan and writer for more than 30 years and nothing surprises me anymore.

I wish the local law around Hampton, Ga. would charge Edwards to rub NASCAR's face in their own stupidity. Maybe when someone gets really hurt they'll stand up and listen.

Somewhere, Denny Hamlin just peed himself with excitement, and he knows exactly why.

    Nice.

Since when did John Ziegler run NASCAR?

To the credit of NASCAR officials, at least they are for once being consistent. They wanted the boys to have at it, and that's just the message they send with the double secret probation.
Of course, now the question is would Edwards have gotten the same slap on the wrist if he had hit, say, the 88 or 24 cars?

Maybe when there is a tragedy, they'll do something. You think?

Sure they'll do something. They'll blame somebody else.

Yup. Drivers as corporate drones and Nascar race officials as wrist-slapping schoolmarms wasn't working. But instead of finding a middle ground, as most other sports leagues have managed to do, Nascar has gone completely the other way. So what if you get the occasional flying car--that's what gets the sport on Good Morning America and other mainstream outlets, as Brad K's missile did this week. When that happens, Nascar will furrow its brow and feign interest in examining the car, knowing full well that a) the spoiler won't prevent flight, never did before; and b) the COT is a Brinks truck and no one's gonna die. Oh, except maybe fans. So let's just get that catch fencing high and tight, ya hear?
