2010 NASCAR running thread

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by 2muchcoffeeman, Jan 3, 2010.

  1. Hey, if you're covering NASCAR this weekend at Bristol and would be interested in coming to the World of Outlaws event promoted by Kasey Kahne Friday and/or Saturday at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap (south of Bristol at exit 23 on I-81) message me here. Volunteer Speedway is a high-banked dirt oval, which lends itself to exciting races for World of Outlaws winged sprint cars. It's a good time, for sure. In addition to promoting, Kasey Kahne will have his World of Outlaws cars in action, too. Tony Stewart's two World of Outlaws cars with Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz will also be there. Opening ceremonies are at 7:30 p.m. each night. Thanks, Chris Dolack/WoO PR

    Hey Chris, how ya doing?
Personally, I thought it was cool back in the day when they trucked in all that dirt and raced the Outlaws around Bristol. Didn't last long (maybe 3 years?) and dusty as hell, but I thought it was a clever idea.

  3. They might frown on that this weekend but the Volunteer Speedway dirt track has 35 degrees of banking so it'll be pretty wild. And Kasey Kahne said last night he'll be racing in addition to promoting so he's running the Nationwide, Sprint Cup plus the two World of Outlaws events during the weekend.

Hampton owes its very existence to the race track, which has a nine-figure annual economic impact on the area.. Local law enforcement won't do a thing. They want SMI to keep writing checks for off-duty officers to provide security.

Getting ready to head for Bristol. Weekend weather looks great....except, of course, for Sunday. If anyone's watching, I'll be the one with the beer....and the Montoya hat....

    No surprise there.

But did France return that beard to Bruce Martin?
