You want to make it from Atlanta to Talladega in 90 minutes on race day, you best leave at 2 a.m.

To be fair didn't Atlanta sell tickets with the cost based on the number of cars that wrecked in the Talladega "big one" one year?

That's not even remotely fucking funny. Davey didn't die during a race at Talladega.

    JJ: Really unfunny. IMO.

So if I read this right, part of the reason Atlanta is losing the spring race is because of poor weather.

And that race is going to Kentucky, where the weather is better in early March?

Perhaps one of you NASCAR gurus can explain this or tell me the schedule is going to be changed to put Kentucky later.

Or if we have a meteorologist in the house who is aware of especially balmy weather patterns in early march over the bluegrass state.

I think Kentucky is going in July.

May mean absolutely nothing in regards to the '11 schedule, but I haven't even gotten my renewal for the '11 Bristol spring race....have always had to have paid, by this point in time. They did send an e-mail, saying it would eventually arrive.

Would LOVE that one to be moved back a few weeks. Used to be in April (distinctly remember watching the Masters at the hotel, on Saturday PM), the "creep" into March has caused for some particularly sh*tty weather. Kurt Busch "snow angel celebration" ring a bell???

The idea that Nashville HAS NHL but DOES NOT HAVE Winston Sprint Series racing continues to baffle me.

As of, ooohhh, two weeks before the night race Bristol is still selling tickets to it. I'm sure they aren't majorly involved with the spring yet.

Kentucky race will be in July, though Bruton Smith actually lobbied to have it same weekend as Kentucky Derby, which would have been insane.

Nashville's track seats 50,000 people. It looks like it seats less. I went there for the first time in June. There's NO WAY it's remotely close to being Cup ready, and since its ownership group shut down Memphis and is now trying to sell Gateway, not sure they'll be sinking the millions in to double the seating and get it Cup ready. But a good point otherwise. :D

And Kirk: Atlanta's losing the race because it doesn't draw dick.

Yep, understood. Just was following up on comments I read in the AJC this morning that attributed the attendance issues to the weather.

Thanks for the clarification on the Kentucky race date, gents.

Just wouldn't have figured that the next track with multiple dates to lose one would come from the heart of the south, the heart of their roots. Would have figured Michigan, Pocono or California would have been more likely candidates to drop a race.
