Interesting piece on Dale Jr. in the NY Times:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/08/magazine/08Earnhardt-t.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&ref=dale_jr_earnhardt

Junior obviously has way more money than I do, but I wouldn't want to trade spots with him at all. I've gotten the impression over the years Junior is living a life he doesn't want to, and this article reinforces it (in part) with the multiple references to several PR people running his schedule for him.

The Jim Beam Black story sums up that handler nonsense pretty well.

A good and enlightening article, if you can get past the annoying references to "Nascar," as though it weren't an acronym.

Also nice to see that it doesn't pull any punches on Dale Sr. What a poor excuse for a father.

"Nascar" has always been the Times' style. I kinda like it.

It was a good read, other than the Nascar thing and obviously being written by someone who doesn't have a history with the sport or written for NASCAR fans.
    I didn't know Jeff Gordon isn't a fan favorite.

I, too, liked it calling out Sr. for being a poor excuse of a father and husband.

If you're writing for the Earnhardt crowd, he's not. :D

Then again, I guess if all I had to drink was American beer, I'd be angry and throw it away too. ;D

That NYT article is making me irrationally angry.

No mention yet of the first schedule domino to fall? The first race of the 2011 Chase will be at Chicago.
Does that mean New Hampshire is going to lose a race?

To be fair, I make that typo a lot. I just happen to catch it before it's published. ;)

Does Chrissy Wallace (Mike's daughter, Rusty's niece) know someone is sending messages in her name on Facebook under the title "Hello Cutie"? It's got what purports to be her phone number and email address following a come-hither, I-need-a-man message.

I know this because the message popped up at 3:15 a.m. If it is the real Chrissy, I'm flattered, but must respectfully decline.
