    Seam in the asphalt repair.

FOX said 10 minute repair when they started.

Anyway, some ESPN writers on new live chat feature. Posting pics and updates during race and the delay:

Can somebody please get France off my TV.

DW, too, while you're at it.

    Thanks.

Best Twitter hashtag so far: From Jim Utter, #blamedigger :D

Track hasn't been paved since I was in fifth grade. Sad. Robin Braig's been insisting for years that the drivers and Goodyear engineers keep telling him the track doesn't need to be paved. Guess that excuse has run out of time, huh?

Lance McGrew on the radio a bit ago (paraphrasing): They're just gonna put a cone over it and have you guys drive around it.

At least the motorcycle races in a couple weeks don't use that part of the course anymore, but it has to be repaved.

@Machine Head: Robin Braig is the one who should've been on TV. No reason for Brian and Lesa to take the blame for this.

Nate Ryan just tweeted that people are beginning to head for the parking lots. Embarrassing.

    Ed Hinton:

Ed Hinton: Truex just made an important point on TV. If this thing goes into night, the cars may shake out a lot differently. Under the lights, this could become a Coke 600 with restrictor plates, perhaps with entirely different cars coming up front.

So far, they've only been off by an hour and 10 minutes.

    Uh-oh ...

RT @nateryan: http://twitpic.com/13a386 - Fans wait to cross International Speedway Blvd. as Daytona repair continues. #nascar

Not surprising, because the earlier start times this season had been marketed as getting people home earlier.

    Drivers heading back to cars.

2mcm, I haven't been down there for quite a while. Is that Jai Alai joint gone?

Can you get pass-outs to make a run back to the car for beer?

I dunno, it's not like there have never been lengthy red flags before. Giving up on the entire race for a delay of under 2 hours seems a little extreme, imo.

Yes. There's a Best Buy/PetSmart/American Heritage furniture/Sports Authority on that site now.
