My favorite Deadspin comment: "If you scramble the letters in his name it spells El Boner Jams."

Assuming this is true, how much does a championship won under these circumstances actually mean? I mean, my god, a three superstar dream team with Lebron James, D-Wade and Chris Bosh damn well BETTER win championships, winning it all will only be ho hum expected, anything less will be viewed as a disastrous choke.

Not to mention that the Heat have ALREADY won a recent championship with D-Wade leading the charge, will it still be viewed as Wade's team? Hitching on to a team that's already won it and has two other superstars hardly seems the way to cement your legacy as a champion. Jordan climbed the mountaintop by finally beating the Pistons, not joining them. Isiah climbed the mountaintop by finally beating the Celtics, not joining them. This just seems to me like a weaselly way to get there.

Adrian Wojnarowski has been writing some absolutely amazing things about this whole circus. Love the end of this, dead on...

"Greatest talent to ever walk into this league, the self-proclaimed King, and now everyone gets a front-row, primetime seat for how it means to live without self-awareness, without restraint. The vacuous star for our vacuous times, live on Thursday night and fitting himself for a ring as the undisputed Champion of Me. All about ‘Bron and all about nothing."

Prediction: If James signs with the Heat, they won't win the title next season. Take it from a fan of the late '70s 76ers. In theory, who could beat a team with both Dr. J. and George McGinnis up front and Doug Collins in the backcourt. In practice, there was always someone who could.
It's a law of diminishing returns for superstars. Two is more than twice as good as one, but three is not 50 percent better than two.

Given that the Dolans own Newsday you would think they have some pretty good sources.

If the king is not going to The Knicks I would imagine Newsday would be happy to spoil the party.

    Agreed. The twice-weekly funbag is a must-read.

In theory yes but McGinnis lost his shooters touch. One off the more bizarre melt downs ever.

There also have been cases where superstars have worked well together- See Bird / Parrish/ McCale or Magic/ Kareem/ Worthy or Malone/ Erving/ Jones

I think this one works because of Wade's ability to control the ball. It will take a lot of pressure off James. Showtime could be back.

I just thought of something after reading a column on the LeBron saga. Will they have cameras in each of the cities (NY, Miami, Cleveland, etc.) of fans packed into a bar, cheering for LeBron to pick their town? That would be the ultimate diva moment for James.

Still bothered by how ESPN is involved, from the time "sale" to the reporting. Is this a wierd payback after leaving their bloggers high and dry during the college football reshuffling? Or has something been manufactured here. Or maybe it's too late at night and I can't sleep due to STD with two days before vacation???

    From the ESPN story:

Sounds like he isn't decided quite yet. And I could see them leaking this as a trial balloon to see the reaction.

I wouldn't hand them the title yet either. First, as has been said elsewhere, Bosh is not a superstar. I think he'll thrive and be really good in Miami, but I don't think he's ever been a guy anyone feared.

Wade and LeBron together is pretty fascinating, for countless reasons. Would be exciting to watch - especially the battle over who can draw the most ridiculous fouls - but there could also be complications.

And say the Lakers do win the title again, it will be fun to see people again blame LeBron's supporting cast, perhaps they'll wonder how anyone can be expected to win on a team with no bench.

On another note, there are numerous reports that Ray Allen is staying in Boston. So basically the Celtics would be the same team as this year, when it seemed like they might break up. Can see them winning like 47 games in the regular season but having an epic battle against the Heat in the playoffs.

Didn't Newsday report the LeBron-to-Miami thing before ESPN "reported" it?

Not that I'd trust any of these reports, but still...

Yeah Hahn tweeted first (weirdly, in keeping with Internet protocol, he actually wrote FIRST!!!).

Then again, Jared Dudley had the Knicks rumor first, so if he does go there, he still gets credit.
