Missed the HBK-Hart segment, but thought the Hart-Vince segment was damn near perfect. Kept waiting for Vince to do something to Bret, and kept waiting for Bret to get up and kick Vince's ass after that kick.

But it does set up the next three months quite nicely.

Kinda glad I had to cover a girls' game tonight and didn't get to see much of either show, especially considering some of the posts on here. Seemed the first hour of TNA was damn good, then the wheels nearly fell off from reading the thread.

Last night was a fun night that brought back a lot of memories of the Monday Night Wars. Hopefully, TNA can get some momentum and give the WWE a run for its money.

Fell off a little bit in the second hour, but that third hour was pretty good ... and Styles-Angle was off the hook. [/tazz]

Styles-Angle was, no pun intended, phenomenal. It felt like it dragged on about 10 minutes too long though. It was a great 20-25 minute match, then the last 5 or 10 minutes was just a series of repeating spots. Styles hits his finisher, Angle kicks out; Angle goes for the ankle lock, Styles counters. And so on. I think Angle went for the ankle lock at least a dozen times and Styles hit his finisher six or seven times. The moves lost their punch by the end of the match, and the crowd was dead by then.

Take away the awesome Kurt Angle vs. A.J. Styles match and TNA Impact reeked something awful.

1990s WCW all over again. Hogan, Bischoff, Hall, Nash, Waltman and Russo running the company into the toilet, pushing their friends instead of the real talent.

Take away the Bret segments and Raw was just another dull Raw. But it was good to see Bret again, even if he did look ancient.

Hated the final segment, but figure it has to lead to something down the line.

The numbers are in ... highest numbers in TNA's history: http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/TNA_News_1/article_37908.shtml

And the Hogan debut was the highest 15 minutes in TNA's history: http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/TNA_News_1/article_37910.shtml

Obviously these numbers aren't anything special compared to WWE's current numbers or the numbers pulled in the late 90s. But it should show that wrestling fans are more accustomed to watching wrestling on Monday nights. It would be wise for TNA to move to Mondays, just for the spill-over effect alone.

  8. BTW, Bryan Danielson worked a dark match with Chavo last night. Hopefully, "the best wrestler in the world" will be on TV soon.

I'm torn. On the one hand, they're good numbers, particularly going live against Raw for the first time. On the other hand, this is a 1.5 with oodles of hype, the known return of Hulk Hogan, the expected debut of Hall and Waltman and the expectation of surprises (which they definitely got with Hardy and Flair). Can they do that for a run-of-the-mill Impact? Probably not for a while, at least, and they're absolutely needing to get their shit together when it comes to building a cohesive show that can draw viewers into their world.

And hopefully, they won't job him out to Hornswoggle, or something stupid like that.

Back to TNA for a second, I also hope that Hogan's ego doesn't explode with the high rating for his segment.

They just have to keep on building on this and establish continuity in storylines ... I took a month break from TNA a while ago, and I was completely lost.

SPOILER ALERT .... The Outsiders will reunite to take on Beer Money at Genesis

They should have just reset everything and started from scratch. New set, new graphics, new intro, possibly even killed the six-sided ring (as Hogan allegedly wants to do). Instead of trying to adapt sketchy storylines sporadically, say fuck it and lay out a new plan and go forward.

And here's a SPOILER RESPONSE: Scott Hall is 800 pounds and Kevin Nash is 80 years old. This will be the worst thing ever, except for Outsiders-Nasty Boys
