    Speaking of Heyman ...

Just rewatched the ECW One Night Stand 2006 PPV match between Cena and RVD. Wanted to show my fiancee the most extreme example of a crowd despising Cena and, holy shit, did that deliver.

I remember thinking it was pretty crazy when I watched it live that night but figured they'd tone it down for the DVD. Nope. You can still see the "Fuck You Cena" signs clear as day, you can hear the chants. It's insane.

What a shitty match though. I remember being riveted by it live but, given a couple years, it was clear how bad that match really was. No chemistry, no big spots. Take away the crowd and you've got one of the worst PPV headline matches I've ever seen.

And what's with the lame finish? Edge costs Cena? Boo. Should've given RVD the belt cleanly.

Certainly a heel run. I was out of the loop for a bit, but it seems he turned (back) heel sometime in 2005 and stayed that way until the Legacy feud.

I don't think I've ever truly been impressed with a Cena match unless there are some cool stipulations (the Orton feud at...the end of last year?...produced some entertaining matches), or if he's in there with someone really F-ing good (never saw Cena/HBK at WM23, but their one-hour rematch on RAW was solid...he also has good chemistry with Edge). But, hey, it hasn't been about the best wrestler for a long time. It's about who puts asses in the seats.

Cena's grown on me, some. Yeah, I still wish he had a bit of an (no pun intended) edge to him, like when he was a rapping heel, but to me, he's just now a solid babyface. If and when he ever does turn heel again, perhaps a few years from now, it'll should be on par with when Hogan joined the NWO.

He's not a horrible worker, by any stretch of the imagination, and his HBK matches went a long way towards making him credible.

That match with Van Dam, though, is hysterical to watch with the crowd. I love it when Cena kept throwing the shirt out, and fans kept throwing it back.

The other great ECW crowd moment was the last time the WWE ran at Hammerstein. Big Show vs. Batista, and the crowd totally shit on both guys. Show actually seemed amused, but Batista was visibly pissed.

    "CHANGE THE CHAN-NEL!" *clap clap clap-clap-clap* :D

Speaking of Big Show, I like him as a face, and he seems to be completely over as such. He's a cool guy with a natural sense of humor, and I think they've let him be himself a little bit more than before.

I just saw a vid of the Shane Douglas/Billy Kidman "Viagara on a Pole" match. I hate Mark Madden, but his commentary was classic.

I also like face Big Show.

    He's hilarious.

Maybe they're letting him have one last run as a face? I've heard he may retire soon.

Hard to believe he's been in the business for about 15 years. I still think of him as the young guy with the Dungeon of Doom.

Not to mention that ridiculous storyline of him being the son of Andre the Giant. I read one interview of Show where he was asked about that. Show's answer: Don't get me started.

I remember in the early days of the NWO, right after Giant/Big Show joined the faction, they ran up and commandeered the broadcast booth at the end of Nitro, and in the course of conversation, Scott Hall asked him on camera "Hey, isn't Andre your dad," and Giant/Big Show answered back with a stern "don't go there!"

I was gonna ask whether Hall was drunk, but we always know the answer to that one...

The other crazy thing about Show was a show on, I think WCW Saturday Night where he was working with a glorified jobber named Rochester Roadblock. At one point in the match, Show climbed up to the top rope and delivered ... a dropkick .. to Roadblock.

Aside from the 'Holy Shit' moment, I thought it was strange that he wasted that move in a three-minute squash on the lowest show in WCW rather than a PPV match in a main event.

I don't think he ever did that dropkick again. Maybe someone told him not to, either because he didn't need to for his size, or for whatever political reason.

EDIT: Couldn't find that match, but I found a different match from Nitro in which Giant/Show does a regular drop kick on Roadblock:

He dropkicked Test sometime in '99...
