The problem is there wasn't a person Orton could have chosen that would have made sense in the grand scheme of the storyline.

I thought about this as the match went on. Say Orton did win. Who'd he pick?

Otunga was the only name that made sense to me but, even then, who would care?

I agree this is a wee bit too predictable but I'm looking forward to the payoff, which isn't something I can say for a lot of these current storylines.

Also, anyone else think Punk is trying to recruit Bryan into a new SES?

And one last thought. The new R-Truth theme song sucks ass.

    This.

I can definitely see that, and then one turns on the other, and they end up having one hell of a blowoff match at WM.

Oh, and what the heck has been up with Cole and Lawler the past couple of weeks? They've been funny as hell, especially with Lawler saying Cole's wife should be Miss Piggy for Haloween and Cole sying he could say a lot about Lawlers ex-wives and girlfriends.

The best line was at the PPV. Lawler was talking about how Maryse is, in essence, a trophy wife and either Stryker or Cole said "Yeah, King, like you've never married a trophy wife".

Here's the small issue that I have with this (even though I'd love to see a monster heel turn by Cena) ...

Say the above scenario does play out and Cena costs Orton the title, why would anyone in the back really care that Cena screwed Orton? The same Orton who obviously gets a babyface reaction from the crowd, but isn't the true definition of a face ... i.e. save anyone in the back from a beat down and not threaten to punt another top face (Cena).

So I can't really buy that the locker room would turn its back on Cena because he cost the man who would punt any one of them the title.

It just hit me that there was absolutely no mention of Cena and Otunga winning the tag belts last night. If you're going to do a title change like that (where two guys who need the belts right now drop them for an angle that doesn't need it whatsoever), why even bother?
Maybe they should've saved the buried alive match for the tag team championship. It would've been fitting.

  7. You must have caught the show late. At the very beginning, Barrett made a match between Otunga/Cena and the other two guys, then right before the bell rang announced that Nexus doesn't fight within itself so Otunga would have to lie down. Otunga does, making Gabriel and Heath Slater the new tag champs.

    Yeah, and if I'm supreme leader of the world, there will never be a "Fingerpoke of Doom" finish in pro wrestling again. {cross-thread}

Here's where I would go from here:

    * Cena goes to Orton and explains that, with Nexus running around, Orton should demand a cage match.

    * Cena goes to Miz and explains to him the benefits of hiding under the ring for the main event.

    * Cena also explains to Orton how his rematch clause would be better served facing Miz than Barrett.

See where I'm going with this?

    * Match takes place. Cena helps Barrett win the title.

    * As soon as the match is over, Cena takes the strap -- and bashes Barrett's head in with it. A few Attitude Adjustments, maybe the help of a chair under the ring, and Barrett is a bloody mess. Cna gets his revenge.

    * Miz comes out from under the ring and cashes in Money in the Bank. New champ. Cena has all of his revenge.

Wouldn't happen in this era of WWE programming, as much as everyone would love to see it. Hell, the crowd was practically begging for blood during Taker-Kane on Sunday night.

This may be too early (the latter is only 30), but I pose a question, my friends:
    Better Randy: Savage or Orton?

Savage, and it's not even close. Savage was better in the ring, and Orton is a bit of a marble mouth on the mic.
