I watched In your House: Canadian Stampede from 1997 this morning and I forgot how good it is. Despite being such an amazing show, Canadian Stampede normally gets less talk when it comes to best PPV's ever. I can understand the ones who doesn't feel it qualifies. It's an hour shorter than most PPV's and it lacks that truly special moment since this is all mostly feud builders. Yet, is it really the PPV's fault that it's short? Where does it say that a PPV needs to be three hours? There's a lot of PPV's I wish that they would have just dumped the crap and left the great matches. At least in terms of workrate and those damn star ratings, it's either one of, or the best PPV ever. The average rating for the matches is over 3 3/4 stars. This would be the best WWE PPV of 1997 and an important show to check out to get every major chapter in the hottest feuds of the year.

    Thoughts?

I put Hogan above Austin, primarily because Hogan had a longer run on top than Austin, and, as you said, Hogan set the bar.

The WWF was already established when Austin hit it big. Plus, it wasn't until Vince really became the antagonist that Austin hit the stratosphere.

I think them not rating Hogan so high is insane, but I can get Flair falling some if this is the top WWE superstars of all time. If they use the wrestlers' WWE careers as the measuring stick, then Flair falls a lot since he spent most of his time, and his best time, in WCW or its predecessors.

Where did this list come from? I know it's supposedly from a DVD, but what site has posted it and how did they gain access to the information?

The list makes sense from a WWE perspective because they're obviously docking the wrestlers who either left to join the competition (Hogan, Flair, Angle) or who are on the outs with them (Warrior). I'm a little surprised, given that, they ranked Jeff Hardy at all.

John Cena right above Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes? And why in hell is there a tie for 17th of all things?

To make it appear actual "voting" took place and they utilized those results, a la Cyber Sunday.

That's what I was thinking at first, that they only were using guys' WWE careers.

But to my knowledge, Gorgeous George and Thesz rarely, if ever, worked for any of the McMahons, and while Rogers was the first WWWF champ, he only had the belt a few months and left the territory after dropping the strap.

It looks like they were trying to rank the all-time greats, but had to insert a few of their favorites as well. I'm sorry, but JYD? Bobo Brazil deserves to be on that list more than he does.

Funk or Flair: Who was better?

I say Funk over Flair, but it's close. Flair was just a bit to relaint on his formula, whereas Funk was always mixing it up and worked pretty much any situation well in his prime. That said, Flair was probably more exposed as he was a touring champions for so long and therefore wrestling so many high profile matches on tape, Funk has less footage and therefore isn't as repetetive. That and there's less 70s footage than 80s. Terry was a fantastic old school grappler and mat wrestler in his prime.

Terry Funk is one of my two favorite wrestlers of all-time.

That said, on a nightly basis, in his prime, there was nobody better than Flair.

OK, they are going all out with this "Old School" night and it RULES.

RE: Tony Atlas. My great grandma use to rub WD40 on her joints just like he was doing.

Three-hour Raw so far, and the old school stuff is great.

The old red, white and blue ropes, the refs wearing blue shirts and black bowties, Mean Gene doing a segment on a side stage with Barrett, Miz and Cowboy Bob, Cole wearing a loud yellow suit, and Henry coming out to his "Sexual Chocolate" music.

Book it: Whenever two teammates that aren't getting along suddenly announce they're back on the same page and they're going to prove it that night, one of them is going to turn.
