Now that I think of it, I have a feeling that this firing is going to set up Cena's heel turn, just like, in a similar way, it did Hogan's.

When Hogan joined the NWO, he had been off TV for a couple of months, so it had been a bit of a surprise when he made his way down the ramp. I can see something similar to this with Cena.

They could, for instance, have Undertaker be beaten up by a bunch of Nexus guys around Rumble time. Here comes Cena, after being off TV for about two months. Crowd goes nuts. Cena steps in the ring, Nexus runs. Cena helps up Taker, then gives him an Attitude Adjustment.

Undertaker gets mad and demands Cena get rehired in time for WM so he can add him to the streak.

Knowing these WWE writers, Cena will come back under a mask as Captain America.

Most annoying way to accomplish heel turn: Cena revealed to be secret GM, hires himself back.

John Cena will not be fired tonight. Wade Barrett will realize that he can make John Cena's life more miserable by keeping him in Nexus.

I'm kind of ashamed to have invested this much emotion into professional wrestling, and even worse into a crappy card, but this has the feeling of WWE's Starrcade '97 moment. That was the last time I think I and others (based on some of the comments here and elsewhere today) felt this disappointed in a major match.

We've had a couple months of build-up for this. All kinds of wild scenarios, possible outcomes and anticipation. Would Cena turn heel? Would Miz finally get his shot? What awesome feuds could spring out of this?
    And now .... nothing.
Cena will still be there. Orton is still champ. Barrett and Nexus still look like overrated schoolyard bullies. Miz is still saying, "I'm going to cash in ... but not right now!" R-Truth is still a waste of oxygen. No major shakeups. No satisfying conclusion. Just "tune in for the next THRILLING chapter of As The Cena Turns!"
It sucks. It just flat out sucks.

Like most people, my interest in wrestling has ebbed and flowed over the years. I know at some point it'll be better than it is now, and at some point I'll be back. Part of me really feels like it's time for an extended break from the whole thing, and I doubt I'm the only one. It seems like this could be a real turning point for WWE, where a large chunk of fans says screw it.

I thought the undercard of the PPV - Bryan vs. Ted Jr., Ziggler vs. Kaval - was awesome, and the woman's match had a good emotional moment with Nattie winning the belt. (Although honestly, Michelle McCool doesn't like putting anyone over; she tapped out in about 0.15 seconds to the sharpshooter, to the point that Nattie barely had it on.)

Too bad the rest of the PPV was just such a letdown. The SD match, Del Rio just vanished after getting knocked out. Kane vs. Edge was really bad. And while the action was good and tense in the Orton vs. Barrett match, the payoff was such a letdown.

I want to take Natalya home to mom and dad. I've never particularly found any of the Divas attractive beyond one night stand type material...but damn, there's something about her, non-fake breasts (I assume), and a little thick through the middle...

When's the last time the WWE Championship has been on the line on Raw?

Normally I'd think that. But there's two things that keeps me from having those lustful thoughts about her: The fact that I saw her dad perform as I was growing up, and the fact that her dad is The Anvil. Just doesn't feel right to me.

This whole thing reeks of ... actually being something legit.

That Cena goodbye segment was pretty good for a firing that won't last a year, especially when he was leading the dueling chants and Barrett giving the "You can't see me" sign behind his back as Cena walked out of the arena.

And part of me wonders if there was perhaps a bit of a hidden message in Cena's remarks about Barrett. I haven't heard anything about Barrett's workrate, or anything like that, but it seemed like he was actually trying to send a message to him.

I think it was when Sheamus defended the belt against Zach Ryder.
