Haven't listened to it yet, but The Miz is the guest on Bill Simmons' podcast today. Should be a good listen.

I have both of Heenan's books. They're OK. The second book, strangely enough, is more of a self-help thing.

He has some really good stories in the first book, but I found it to be somewhat of a disjointed read. He basically just tells story after story, without much in the way of transitions.

I actually think you need a play-by-play guy, because not everyone is going to be familiar with the moves, and it enhances the moves.

Considering he was days away from dying and survived thanks to a liver transplant about 8-9 years ago, he's lived a pretty good life. H And it sounds like he knows he's dying:

"I am ending my run on this earth and have reserved a plot next to Eddie G. at Green Acers cemetery in Phoenix AZ. I have chosen music and selecting certain paintings of mine and photos that I will want displayed. One of the minister from my church, Joe Jackson, a dear friend, will be conducting the service. He is not the Sr. pastor but a traveling evangelist who played pro ball with the Jets and Vikings, his wife Terill will be handling all emails, phone calls and hotel etc, Dave Meltzer"

I have both Heenan books as well, and while there were enjoyable stories in the first one, I expected more from a guy who regularly got the hell beat out of him by The Crusher and Dick the Bruiser.

And I disagree with Heenan's view on play-by-play. Heenan was old school, and wasn't NEARLY as bad as Dusty Rhodes or Larry Zbyszko, but those guys flat-assed refused to get over new, exciting moves by new, exciting wrestlers because they were too caught up in the past.

Watch some old WCW with Dusty and Larry Z. It is unwatchable. You'd have a 4**** match with guys like Jerico, Benoit, Eddy Guerrero or Dean Malenko (or many of the Luchadores) and those two would put down everything the wrestlers were doing. And they never learned the names of the holds and maneuvers, either.

Contrast them to Jim Ross or Joey Styles and it was like night and day.

Was an awesome listen... well, worth the entire hour. Can't help but root for and like The Miz.

I agree Dusty was simply awful he was so dull and it didn't seem like he really wanted to be there. In my opinion Dusty Rhodes was a total disaster in WCW, no matter what he did.

I've just listened to the first 45 minutes (gotta pause it because I'm going to work) of an hour-long segment, and it's a great listen.

Just saw on wrestlingobserver.com that WWE just released MVP.

I always liked the guy. Too bad they didn't have a clue what to do with him.

Not that surprising...what's surprising is that it took them this long to do this. It's funny because Carlito called it a while back. I'm not going to miss him all that much since he's been bland for months(due to the lack of push, and face turn) but I'm sure he'll be able to find work elsewhere.

Wish it had been R-Truth instead.

Speaking of Mr. Killings, anyone notice he went back to his old theme song?

Me too, I hated him as K-Kwik back in the day, didn't care for him in TNA, and hate him as R-Truth/Pretty Ricky. I wish every events in wrestling were in Canada so we wouldn't have to see him ;-)

    Both are gawd awful!!
