A different take, schieza, and certainly a valid one.

What's sad is the Ziggler-Bryan match is really what *every* US vs. IC champion match (or really every US or IC championship match) should be, and would have been in the WWF/WCW before about 1998. A match like Ziggler-Bryan certainly could have a lasting impact with (shall we say) veteran fans if it becomes a turning-point sort of match: "*This* was the match that brought legitimacy back to those belts." Maybe it's a pipe dream from the past, having the secondary champions take on all comers, showcase the mid-card and be groomed for the big belts. But these guys certainly have the chops to do it, as they showed when they faced each other.

Schieza's opinion notwithstanding, I think there's a simple reason they didn't give out a match of the year Slammy. In the minds of probably 99 percent of fans, it was HBK-Taker and then everything else. There was really no point to it.
Going with "moment of the year" let them do a quick recap of the high points of the year and still give the match its due.

HBK just posted the following to Facebook:

"Yes facebookers, there may be a future w/ the WWE & yours truly :)"

Two nights in row he's planted a seed about some sort of return.

I'm guessing he's talking about the Hall of Fame. But as huge HBK mark, it would be great to see him compete one last time, no matter how wonderful and perfect his sendoff was. I miss the guy.

My moment of the year was Mae Young dropping "sluts" and "bitches" on Old School Raw.

Although he also mentioned on Raw that he wasn't there because they would try to persuade him to come back, and he didn't want to deal with that.

Maybe he'll be the anonymous GM? He was the GM once in the late 90s for a very short while.

And meanwhile, there was a fight at Hulk Hogan's wedding. I'm just disappointed the Nasty Boys weren't involved:

At least Hulk's marrying someone who has lived a little, even if she's young enough to be his kind. Linda, meanwhile, is engaged to a 21-year-old. That's really going to last long.

Surfing YouTube, and it occurs to be: I miss Brock Lesnar, monster pro wrestler. Particularly when he's murdering cruiserweights:

My favorite moment of all-time on WWE television was when Brock superplexed Big Show and the ring collapsed.

    Greatest. Holy. Shit. Moment. Ever.

Even better, the steel chair shots Lesnar took on this one:

    AND HE NEVER WENT DOWN!
