Indeed. Nothing Taker could have said would have meant more than simply tipping the hat.

He may comeback, but it will never be the same again. Sad to see HBK go. He always delivered, even if it was at a house show. Saw him a few times during non-tv tapings and he never went at it half-ass, at least the times I saw him.

I was curious what WWE might do with HBK's farewell (i.e. would it be similar to Flair's, etc.), but I liked the way this went down. The tip of the cap from Taker and the embrace from Trips were simple and perfect in terms of interaction from other wrestlers. They were the two HBK respected most who are still around, so they were the ones to thank him. Fine by me.

Another interesting bit about RAW that I particularly enjoyed: Michaels and Hart mutually paying respect to each other. Genuine or otherwise, a classy move by both. Plus, who would've ever imagined that?

So long to HBK. One of my favorites going back to when he and Jannetty teamed up as the Midnight Rockers in the AWA. Even back then, you could see that he had talent.

I still remember seeing one of the Apter mags from around 1989 or 1990 that was predicting that Michaels was going to become a huge star. I thought that although he was very talented, that there was no way they were going to have him ever be at the top. Boy, was I wrong about that.

Bret and him officially burying the hatchet was nice to see. Hopefully it was legit. I wish he would have mentioned Jannetty in his speech, but otherwise, it was excellent. Undertaker's tip of the hat was awesome.

I never had the opportunity to see him wrestle live (been to one show, RAW 3 weeks ago), but I've seen plenty of his matches to think that, IMO, he's the best I'll ever see. There is plenty of room for debate as to who is *the* greatest, but nobody can say Shawn Michaels isn't at least part of the discussion.

I saw him perform once a few months after he had turned heel. He was working with Tito Santana (in his forgettable El Matador role) in the midcard of a show I went to. I remember they had the best match of the night.

The black pants he was wearing in the ring at the Rumble and his first couple matches back did him no favors. For whatever reason they looked like ugly sweatpants and made his gut stick out. He looked a lot better last night, as you'd expect being back full time for a couple months now.

That's awesome. They opened WM8, yes?

It got extremely dusty in here when Triple H came out for the embrace. Extremely well done, but it's HBK. Of course it would be quality.

Now a personal story if you all don't mind:

When I worked on the copy desk, my wife started watching wrestling. She never struck me as the sort that would enjoy it, but I'm thinking all those shirtless hunky guys probably looked better to her than to her fat, hairy husband who worked nights.

I had stopped watching wrestling for awhile, mainly due to my crappy hours and lack of a desire to purchase a DVR. Her interest rekindled mine, and I fell in love with the WWE and HBK all over again. I'm working more days than nights now. We hardly ever miss a Raw, and in some sick, twisted way, wrestling has actually brought us closer together because we don't have a lot of common interests.

Wrestling can let us all down. Too many scripts are horrible. Too many wrestlers lack personality. Too many wrestlers die way too young. Yet through it all, HBK never once disappointed. He gave it his all. He was always there (unless, of course, he was taking the summer off). And it makes me surprisingly emotional to think that he may never be out there again.

Now I must go through the painful search to find a new favorite wrestler. And whomever I pick (Edge and Kofi are early favorites), they will simply be my favorite current wrestler. My favorite all-time wrestler will always be HBK. My favorite intro will always be HBK's cheesy music. That will never change.

Edge always come back a little soft in the middle, then works his way back into shape. Like Shaq, well a few years ago at least.

Caught about two minutes of Impact, but it was a good two minutes -- the Mr. Anderson promo on Angle.
"Nice guys finish last. And unfortunately for you, I'm an ASS-hole! .... ASS-hole!"

We don't mind one bit, podunk. That's a great story.
