Wow. He was one of my favorites, even though he never got that big a push.

I remember when WCW went through one of its reboots around like '99 or so, and they had the ramp that went all the way to the ring. Kanyon was in a match with that ridiculous three-story cage. He was thrown off it, and he landed on the ramp with nothing to break his fall. Without a shattering table, it wasn't as iconic as Foley's flight off the HIAC a year or two earlier, but it had to hurt like a bitch.

Of course, this being WCW, they did the spot in a midcard match on Nitro, and it was quickly forgotten within a week or two.

Here it is. Tossed off by another guy whose talent was wasted (literally and figuratively), Mike Awesome.
Looks like it was at least at the end of a show, but knowing WCW it was probably Thunder.

It was either Thunder or a PPV. It *did* look like a title match, because I think Arquette was on the top cage with Jarrett... :D

Yeah, I figured I had some of the details messed up on that, but the point remains: It was an insane and very dangerous spot, and it was completely wasted. Stupid WCW.

It didn't matter anyway. The announcing team was probably plugging Hogan and the nWo's match instead of calling the one going on at the time.

Kanyon was one of my favorite wrestlers. I loved his creativity and his characters were strong. I used to always pick him in the WCW video games. RIP

I believe the 'tweener' career path has just opened for one Randy Orton...
