RVD vs. Hardy ... good way to start the 2nd hour up against the start of RawSmackdown.

OMG, what a classic HHH/Punk promo. Triple H and Punk were both on fire. The gay marriage line was hilarious.

One of the best exchanges in a while.

Pretty damn good Impact ... RVD vs Hardy, then RVD vs AJ with RVD winning the title.

Raw seems like they've stepped it up a notch tonight with the Smackdown crew. Crowd was also pretty hot for the Undertaker/Swagger match.

    OK, that last segment sucked.

I could actually feel my brain cells screaming in horror as they died watching that segment. Yet I watched it. Why? Because when you see a Gooker Award candidate unfolding in front of you, you just have to.

In and out on Raw, but I will say that Impact was almost perfect tonight. RVD-Hardy, then RVD-Styles and a title switch, the return of the Samoa Joe we all loved before he did the Nation of Violence descent into suckiness, and almost nothing to complain about (I could live without seeing Rob "Warlord 2010" Terry getting pushed).

I'm cautiously hopeful, which means the next live Impact will suck gopher cocks.

Seriously? REALLY? Was the match even advertised beforehand? I don't see the logic in having AJ drop the title to RVD, of all people, after a successful defense the night before against Pope. It reeks of stupid WCW booking, like when they decided to give away Goldberg vs. Hogan on free television without any advance advertising. That kind of stuff is fine every once in a while, but TNA is just swerve on top of swerve in general, so I doubt it had much impact.

In terms of match quality, TNA was good ... I personally couldn't care less if they advertised it beforehand.

IIRC, Goldberg-Hogan was advertised in advance (since they were at the Georgia Dome in front of the huge crowd, they promoted the hell out of that) ... but it wasn't until the top of that show when they threw the roadblock of Goldberg having to beat Hall first in order to face Hogan.

I think in this case, they saw they were up against a Raw that was lacking in star power (and was being put together on the fly), and they were probably aiming for a strong post-PPV show anyway, and put up a lot of good stuff.

Thing is, a lot of what made Impact work tonight was that there weren't any real swerves. Samoa Joe coming out was a pleasant surprise. Having him be the Samoa Joe of old was great -- no kidnappings, no nonsensical turns, no looking like a loser, just storming out there and beating the bejesus out of everyone. Simple, effective, awesome.

The slowness of the first hour of Raw, compared to the frenetic last hour of Impact, really helped too. Having RVD-Hardy to set up RVD-Styles an hour later allowed enough buzz to develop that I'm sure people switched from that awful Kozlov-MacGruber segment.

They can't do this every week, or even that often, but this was a nearly pitch-perfect Impact, and going up against a lame-duck, B-team Raw was the perfect opportunity to do it.

I'm in the process of finishing up Raw right now but had to vent.

Holy Christ, MacGruber was even worse than I thought they'd be. The chick was somewhat tolerable but, my god, they've just set the bar for terrible guest hosting. Sorry Piven, you've been replaced as worst guest host ever.

It's beyond time to scrap this thing. If they can't get guest hosts worth watching, just install a permanent GM. This is ridiculous.
