How can you forget the immortal Ahmed Johnson? I remember them making a big deal out of him being the first African-American WWE champ.

Well, that was the Intercontinental title, not the world heaveyweight championship. I think Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson were the first black wrestlers to win any WWE title.

He never won the big belt. He was the first black IC champ.

Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson were the first black men to hold any WWF titles, winning the tag team gold in '83.

EDIT: Batman beat me to it.

I watched a shoot interview on YouTube with Atlas, where he said basically that he and Johnson basically hated each other, and that they only teamed up one other time before they dropped the belts.

Exactly, so my point stands. Hell, Kofi is a stuntman. Both have the likability factor.

So much for the Monday Night Wars ... TNA Impact going back to Thursdays on May 13.

Jay Lethal does a pretty good Ric Flair.

As for the kind of guys Vince likes, he's always had a soft spot for guys with legitimate sports backgrounds. Swagger's just the latest, following Angle and Brock. And it's not just white guys, either: He would have pushed Mark Henry to Uranus if he was worth the effort, and he definitely got his share of opportunities. Bobby Lashley and to a lesser degree Shelton Benjamin got that rub too.

It only legitimizes the WWE product to have former sports hosses doing their brand of ballet. That way, Vince can feed "he was an All-American at Yazoo Tech!" from the Gorilla position to the on-air peeps!

That final segment was pretty strong. Orton just looks like a psychotic nut.

What? No talk about The Miz and Jericho teaming up?

That's going to be a fun tag team, particularly when they start arguing about everything.
